Unfortunately Americans don’t listen to Americans and keep electing GOP senators.

Many Holocaust museums include the story of Israel’s founding in 1948, depicting the country as a refuge for Jewish survivors. But they often do not mention, or address only in guarded terms, a subject that increasingly interests some visitors: the Nakba, Palestinians’ term for their displacement amid Israel’s founding.

The thing about founding a country somewhere with an existing population is that there is no possible peaceful transfer. It will always be complicated because displacing people is inherently violent, and the founding and continued colonization by Israel is no exception.

How frequently would someone need to make a 200+ round trip in lousy weather that cuts into the range for them to have a valid reason? Once a month? Every two weeks?

What about people that go to temote areas that don’t even have gas stations? How often do they need to go?

Yeah, all the hand wringing about how he might twist anything punitive into a positive is moronic since Trump whines when he wins too.

Right-wing media company Salem apologizes, stops distributing 2020 election conspiracy film ‘2000 Mules’ after lawsuit | CNN Business (www.cnn.com)

CNN — Salem Media Group, the right-wing talk radio network owner, issued a public apology and said it would stop distributing a discredited 2020 election conspiracy theory film after a Georgia man wrongly accused of voter fraud sued the company for defamation....

“No we did not intend to harm him! We just wanted money and did not care that viewers would obviously target him based on lies!”

Those complaints filed since May 16 “appear to be part of an orchestrated campaign,” according to Pryor, whose appellate court reviews cases arising from federal district courts in Florida, Georgia and Alabama.

Well, yeah. Any kind of change requires a coordinated effort to get enough attention for something to happen.

No they wouldn’t and claiming that is both sides bullshit.

From the other posts it apparently isn’t sarcasm and I’m so confused

I have no idea who this Phillips guy is so must be missing some context.

Him being a Democrat and the long list of horribleness followed by ‘he should be pardoned’ is why I initially assumed it was sarcasm.

Apparently Phillips is just a moron.

“You think pardoning is stupid?” Phillips, also a former presidential candidate, said in a Saturday post on X. “Making him a martyr over a payment to a porn star is stupid. (Election charges are entirely different.) It’s energizing his base, generating record sums of campaign cash, and will likely result in an electoral boost.”

But why would they hire him when the first department give him a glowing recommendation?

Oh, I see.

Vote for Biden! He’ll use your tax dollars to commit less genocides, but we still won’t use any for healthcare or education!

Do you think money isn’t being used for education when student loan debt is forgiven?

It feels like it because you don’t understand context.

Someone is a convicted felon when they are convicted of a felony. They aren’t a convict until they start serving their sentence because convict means a convicted felon serving their sentence. Like how someone who is a licensed driver isn’t referred to as a driver outside of the context of driving.

Someone who has already served their sentence, or who are release as time served are still felons, as in convicted felons even though they are not currently convicts.

snooggums,
@snooggums@midwest.social avatar

Other people are saying that convict is short for convicted felon who is currently serving their sentence.

Nobody refers to convicted felons who have served their sentence and are out walking around as convicts. They are referred to as felons, because they are convicted felons even though they are no longer convicts.

snooggums,
@snooggums@midwest.social avatar

If that was true then all loans could be forgiven without any impact on anything financial.

There is still a cost to forgiving loans, just like tax breaks.

snooggums,
@snooggums@midwest.social avatar

I may have read your post backwards.

Rapidcreek, the op in this comment chain, was trying to use the use of referring to someone as a convict (someone who is currently serving their sentence) to say Trump isn’t a convicted felon until sentencing.

Only for things I was planning on purchasing beforehand and happened to see a sale had started. So the ad saved me from waiting and actively watching for a sale since I don’t create accounts for every company I purchase from.

The death panels existed then too, but they were the for profit insurance companies so Republicans were fine with them.

It would be so cool if Trump went to Rikers Island so that @FlyingSquid can post Riker playing the sad trombone again.

A Riker for Rikers!

It doesn’t really disprove things either, but can be used to eliminate specific claims as not supported by evidence.

Nope.

In addition to the men who are pushing these laws are the women who have bought into the same misogyny and support women being forced to stay in marriage. Frequently the same women who oppose abortion rights.

It is primarily men, but they wouldn’t be successful without that support.

His mouth is going to take probation to federal pound you in the ass penitentiary.

I want to believe!

But this is a state case so the best we can hope for is actually serving some prison time in a state penitentiary and the upside is that it should be in Rikers!
