@kalanggam salamat! Cebuano Wikipedia has a very bad reputation among Wikipedians because of all the bot-created articles so you adding a non-bot article is good! 👍

Here's a thread on how I'm #mapping county-level survey data for a country using #qgis and #openstreetmap. The country is #Ecuador, where the equivalent of US counties are cantons.

The survey data has columns for province and cantons. QGIS has the ability to "join" a CSV with map data, but it seems it only supports one column. So on the survey data side, I need to make "$canton, $province" into a single column.

I finished adding all 27 barangays of the municipality of General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, #Philippines 🇵🇭 into #Wikidata, mapping their boundary relations in #OpenStreetMap, and linking the two datasets with each other.

Wanna play around? Here is the Overpass Turbo query: https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1xow

Very good news. Do we know if there is already a project in place to crowdsource the OSM import? Can Maproulette do this ?

@johanmorganti This could easily be another importable layer in RapiD, similar to the Microsoft buildings.

    @fiee I suppose you've already looked at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/SVG ?

    I think Maperitive is the best tool for now. So yeah, OSM-to-SVG tooling is currently lacking. I'm hoping that with the push to vector tiles, an extension SVG export tool/feature would also be developed.

    For today’s #MappyMondays, I’m trying something I have never done before: constructing WKT literals using the #Wikidata Query Service (#WDQS) in order to draw linestrings on a map!

    So last week I added all of the routes flown by Air New Zealand and Air Chathams into Wikidata and now I get to see these airlines’ route maps using WDQS.

    (Maps are based on #OpenStreetMap; © OSM contributors.)

    2. Air New Zealand (domestic): https://w.wiki/6$Ut

    Based on this figure from this new academic paper, it would seem that #Manila, #Philippines is the most populous well-mapped (> 80% "complete") city in the world in #OpenStreetMap in terms of buildings. And we did it without relying on imports!

    @SomeoneElse I think the presence vs. the non-presence of buildings is a good first measure to assess on a global scale akin to the studies measuring total highway lengths that Pascal Neis et al did¹ more than decade ago and is feasible to be evaluated using the paper's methodology. Checking if the correct building=* tag is used or if the building:levels=* is present and/or accurate could be a good measure for a follow-up study.
