Call it the battle of the voice assistants. A Tech Radar editor tested Apple’s Siri against Google Gemini and Samsung’s Bixby. He made a list of 25 tasks he expected the AI to complete and graded them all on each. One of them easily outdid the others. Take a guess as to which one it was. https://flip.it/gqv-IQ #Tech#Siri#Gemini#Bixby#AI
I only have to take one more class to graduate! Looks like I’l get my associate degree by the end of the summer if everything moves apace.
I was under the impression that I had to take one elective and one phys ed course (yes, really), but this extremely kind advisor finessed the system in my favor. Apparently there is a way to waive 0.5 phys ed credits at a time based on past enrollment. I still needed 0.5 more, but she got the school to waive that too.
Being in the office I get to eavesdrop on obnoxious conversations. Like some boomer bragging to his colleague that he saved a couple hundred bucks buying his daughter a Lenovo instead of the MacBook she asked for.
He went on and on about how his daughter is ungrateful and only cares about the latest trends.
Christ. Setting aside the misogyny-tinged paternalism, just spend the extra money and get her what she asked for. It’s a computer for college. It’s not like she demanded a new BMW.
I’m not saying this because I don’t know the value of a dollar. Nor am I some huge Apple fan. That company hasn’t made a product I wanted in years.
When I went to college my grandmother bought me a Windows laptop. I returned it for credit, combined with my savings from my after-school job, and bought an iBook.
Though I admit I bought it because “ooh, shiny”, I learned more from OS X Terminal than I ever did with Windows. That’s what made me so comfortable learning Linux.
Criterion is releasing Bound (1996) on 4K this June, at least in the US, where it's been unavailable for quite some time. I think it's one of the best, if not the best, neo-noir film I've seen.
it is once again Forced Family Fun Friday night and apparently we are indeed being punished for last week's parental Big Lebowski indiscretion. We have been informed that Paul Blart: Mall Cop is the evening agenda 😱
