i'm finally opening up boxes of software from my archive that haven't seen the light of day in 15-20 years. today, i found a program that has never been archived or probably seen in over 40 years.

i absolutely adore this dungeon mastering program for the TRS-80 that was distributed in ziplock bags in 1982

i can find only one mention of it on the web - the august 1982 issue of TRS-80 Rainbow magazine that advertises it for $19.95 + S&H

happily, i found the cassette, which has never been archived anywhere AFAIK. i am scanning in the printed documentation, along with making a recording of the tape.

The rear page of the game's cover, printed on tan-coloured stock. It describes the different programs included with the software: Rooms I - "This displays 99 different rooms on the screen in hi-res graphics." Character Generation: With this your color computer will make the tedious job of rolling up new characters for players and non-players a breeze The Dungeon: A completely mapped and keyed two level dungeon designed for use with the ROOMS I program. Monster Generator: With just a touch of a key, a complete set of random monster characteristics The dice Bag: Simulate 36 different rolls of polyhedral dice instantly. It will make your old dice bag obsolete.
A hand-drawn map of a dungeon schematic (from the top-down), with a cave-like entrance, into a series of interlocked passageways and rooms. It has hatched shading marks to indicate dungeon walls.
There is obviously a great deal of interest in fantasy and included, with the numbers of the rooms supplicd. role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons™ That is. Module Two allows for the creation of both player and ‘one of the reasons we carry regular column on the sublect. non-player characters...

Came out to do chores this morning to find the livestock guardian dog blissfully napping on the compost pile. (He is supposed to sleep in the barn - he recently chewed through his metal cable lead, and last night he apparently learned how to open horse stall doors. Which would be fine, except we live near a busy road and he's not the brightest bulb.)

Had a really nice snowy walk in the woods with him yesterday. Maybe the last day of snowshowing! I'm so ready to be done with winter...

A large yellowish dog walking along a path through snowy woods. The sky is blue and the trees are all bare, with white bark on the trunks.
A yellowish dog walking out in front of me across a snowy field surrounded by woods. The sky is blue with a few small, puffy white clouds.
A yellowish dog up ahead of me on a path, sniffing something on the ground. There are bare trees on either side of the path, and the shadows of the trunks are draped across the pathway. The sky is blue above.

@sundogplanets Ahhh, nice warm, smelly decaying compost. Who wouldn’t want to snuggle up for a nap?**

I was just plugging away at my desk not expecting much of a sunset when I looked out the window and saw pink in the clouds. I popped out on the paddleboat. This is what I found.

I haven't been able to get out to watch as many susnsets as usual the last couple of weeks. But we've had some super colors lately when I've been out there.

November 17, 2023. Wolverine Lake, Michigan.

@lowqualityfacts Back in my day we had to draw straws in the huddle. We didn’t have newfangled things like “rock.”

A plate of true terror: I harvested and dried my ghost peppers and habaneros on Sunday. Now I’m too frightened of them to do anything with them other than stare and shudder in fear.

@j @nfl Yes, but there must be a precipitating event, for example: your old team moves to a different city, you move to a different city, your team is purchased by Dan Snyder, your team guarantees $250M to a serial sexual offender, or your team is the Detroit Lions during the years 2000-2022 (in which case all is forgiven, and welcome back on the bandwagon.)

However, it is never acceptable to change your allegiance to the Dallas Cowboys or New York Yankees.

Both Democrats and the left are so shell shocked by all of the Republican nonsense I think everyone is just going to vote for Biden or whoever without any hand-wringing at all. That's already how Biden's first election went down-- but, somehow its gotten worse.

Nevermind that Biden isn't that well-liked. He's fine. He's not actively trying to get my friends murdered and ban Black History from schools the bar is so damn loooooow.

    patioboater,
    @patioboater@mastodon.social avatar

@futurebird Yeah, I have lots of things I wish Biden was doing differently or better. Am I going to beef about any of them over the next 18 months? Nope.
