(basically they ditched web-based UWP to embed Chromium into native app)

This is the most over-architectured picture viewer I have seen. And it still takes 400ms to show a photo.

Is Microsoft okay?

So to update text they fade out old popup and fade in new one. How lazy have developers become?

Say what you want, but there’s something immediately obvious about aqua-style controls. They stand out. You can see what’s interactive and what’s not in an instant. You can see what’s expected from you

Compare to modern flat design, where you have to look very closely just to understand what’s what and which parts you are supposed to touch

That’s not progress

What if blueprints but for spreadsheets? Exists?

Last time I needed a spreadsheet it was very hard to get any derived data, even a simple map/filter, outside of trivialities like “sum this column”

It seems that most of my problems with transparent BSDF were due to poor sampling strategy (I used uniform spherical sampling, as a baseline). After nudging VNDF to work with transmission, and using a more sane material description, I finally have a thin-glass orb :)

Though it gets darker with high roughness, so it needs some more work.

Is there a good, well-argued article on why OOP is a good fit for UI code? I've heard this talked about many times, but want to read something meaty from an experienced dev who has seriously considered alternatives to OOP

nikitonsky,
@nikitonsky@mastodon.online avatar

@twipped @rain @astraluma yes but it won’t be possible without DOM which is OOP

nikitonsky,
@nikitonsky@mastodon.online avatar

@twipped @rain @astraluma sorry, I thought we were talking about implementing UI, not using UI

Maybe the appeal of TUI is that spacing is consistent, font size is all the same, so it looks nice almost by itself?

I've completely remade my blog! Changed the design, improved the look of formulas, fixed broken links and typos, etc.

I was thinking of making a thread with my favourite articles, but that would be about a dozen of them, so I'll just drop the blog link here :)
