I’ve been working out regularly for over a month, and steadily gaining weight. While weight loss isn’t my primary objective, trending up is disheartening. I’m not interested in restricting my diet too much (I’m already vegan and diabetic; that’s enough), but one thing I’ve unfortunately brought back into my life after many years not drinking it is regular soda. Just two days without it and I already feel so much better: lighter, clearer skin. Guess I have to wean myself off it again.

The thing I’m enjoying the most about my Stephen King reading project is the references to characters and events of previous novels, and even cameos by characters we’ve met before. And, AND! I don’t know about you but frequently I’ll finish a book and wonder what happened to the characters, as if they were real people living real lives, into which I caught but a brief glimpse. Sometimes we actually find out, because of some random comment in the current book!

I haven’t had enough energy this week to distribute my time among the various fitness games I have installed, so I’ve just been allowing myself to gravitate to what I enjoy most. Every day, that’s been Supernatural; I’m glad I have a bunch, but if I had to pick just one, it’d be the clear winner.

Just Dance 2024 first impression is awful. No idea where a beginner should start, no hand holding, super confusing interface. I want to love this—especially since we don’t really have many options right now—but I miss Dance Dance Revolution so much.

I’ve spent a lot of money, so I’ll look up some guides and stick with it for a bit, but I haz a big sad.

Thinking a lot today about my nephew, who told their family they’re nonbinary—at age 6. SIX. Just think about how loving and supportive and honest an upbringing has to be for a child to develop the self-awareness, vocabulary, and confidence to feel comfortable articulating that at that age. And their little brother is so adorably, fiercely protective of them. 🥰

Their parents are two of the kindest and hardest working people I know. I’m so proud of them and grateful they’re in my life.

Funny and wonderful thing: we have been advised to lock the veranda door at night because the monkeys are smart enough to open it and sometimes they decide to come in and help themselves to the fruit on the table. And I was told that I’m not allowed to offer the fruit to them so they don’t have to steal it. 😂

I’m a bit sad I haven’t been blessed with a munky visit yet. Still have some time, hope that changes. 😊

Hindi speakers, maybe you can help? I needed a translation for paprika, and Google Translate told me, शिमला मिर्च. When I relayed that info, I was given a capsicum and told that’s शिमला मिर्च. Any idea where I went wrong?

@MonaApp I added a remote local timeline in the Communities tab and added it to my tab bar with a custom icon. Later, decided to remove it. Even after removing it from the Communities tab, it remains in my tab bar. This persisted through an app quit-relaunch. Running version 6 (46493) and iOS 17.4b.

I haven’t had proper masala chai in forever, since even before I went vegan years ago. Using plant-based milk isn’t a huge obstacle at all, I just never did it because brain. House guest just made some for me and y’all I am so happy. I’ve got the biggest Cheshire Cat grin, despite burning my entire mouth, throat, and oesophagus worse than I ever have before. (Oops.) @tea

2024’s biggest disappointment so far is not that I broke my Wordle streak* but learning that PancakesCon isn’t just hours of pancake and syrup tastings and panels of pancakers and waffleists**.

*This was actually my first big let-go-of-inconsequential-streak-Nik test. It’s bothering me more than I wish it were but less than I thought it would. Progress!

**Different from wafflers. Waffleists don’t waffle about their waffle predilections.

Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher was so good. There’s almost always that bit at the beginning of a story when I’m really confused, and I struggle to hold on and get through it. I’m really glad I did! This was one of those stories I stayed up late reading because I had to know what happened. (4.5/5)

#AskFedi What’re some must-have games for a precocious and witty 10yo who’s new to #gaming in general and getting a #NintendoSwitch? I don’t think they have the attention span or patience for any Zelda. I was thinking Untitled Goose Game (currently 50% off in the US eShop), maybe Disney Dreamlight Valley. I know there’re loads of games but I’d love to hear from some parents (I’m not one). (Preference given to games that favour kindness and collaboration over pew-pew.) Thanks!

At our meditation centre, events are often in both Hindi and English. We have these cheap (both inexpensive and mediocre quality) Steren AUD-1250 cordless rf headphones so that people can listen to translation being broadcast from the sound room.

I’m trying to find modestly priced alternatives to these headphones, because we need like 80-100 of them. I can’t find anything. Help? Thanks! (In the States.)

Did you play Skull and Bones during closed-beta weekend? What did you think?

I went in ignorant of what it’s supposed to be, so didn’t have any expectations, but I was hoping for more of a focus on a single-player story. That’s not what it is (right now? I understand single-player will be an option), and that’s okay; it’s just not for me in its current state.

Pretty, though! And the desi character creator option made me look like Amitabh Bachchan. 😂
