    Another parent at school had an placed on their car by an unknown (the intent of the person who did that is unclear).
    Often heard/read about the "abusive partner/stalker" but this felt different (more like a car tagging ahead of robbery).

    Anyway message was displayed on that dad's iphone last night but not this morning. They think the tracker might have been removed also I thought it might have been awake due to car movement and might have been sleeping this morning

    The ECHR mention was great but whilst we can appreciate it, the clown leading the country was spewing words to the opposite and this will be what the papers will repeat. What a normal Island....

    Was helping a user debug network on a Linux vm Today. As is expected. The issue was DNS. But when they went to edit resolv.conf, they found it had +i set in xttr.

    Why on earth would you set +i resolv.conf?!?!?!

    At least once we found the issue it was an easy fix.

    Well that is not correct! We must support with £€$¥ mastodon admins and developers for this to work.

    I can get my own instance for a fraction of the twitter price and there are benefits in mutulaliation it can be even cheaper but Mastodon for $0 does not work

    This is probably the most basic networking question of them all, but:

    when I have a server at home (say, a Nextcloud instance) BUT use its "internet" (say, nextcloud.mydomain.com), how is the traffic actually routed? Both the server and the computer I access it are physically next to me, inside my LAN. I tried traceroute, it showed one hop only - my static IP given by the ISP. I'm none the wiser :)

    @stooovie Did you set up some port forwarding to make the next cloud instance accessible from the internet?

    @stooovie Yes but that is still relevant.

    So assuming blabla.cloud.boom resolves to your external IP and that you have set up, port forwarding, you accessing the cloud instance will be sent to your Internet-connected router/modem via the LAN then they will be forwarded back to your cloud instance on the LAN.

    You will not use the WAN link but you will still use WAN router

    So unless that WAN router is undersized you are probably near full speed

    Hi. Can I have a word?

    When you use a could you capitalise each word please? That way, people using screen readers will hear each individual word, which means they'll get more useful context as a result.

    When you don't capitalise hashtags the words string together and make no sense.

    For example would read as "This Is How" while would sound something like "thissy show". A small change for you but a game changer for many people.
