I hadn’t heard of Windows Filesystem Tunnelling until yesterday. I was happier then. This idea is bananas. You can delete a file and make a new file with the same name (within 15s by default) and the NEW file will adopt the creation date of the DELETED file. This stuffs user logic into the filesystem layer to make atomic save operations work without changing user code. Horrible wild idea.

@Gte Leave it to MS to make this monster of a horrible feature to solve a simple problem...

A save should get the file's creation date before writing the new file... OR why not just append the file at position 0?

Asking for every single programmer out there who has solved this problem themselves - normally by using the append-at-position-0 solution!

A fascinating story, but what got me was the bit about Graceland being valued at $400 million. For 14 acres. That's about $28M per acre. That's approaching mid-town-Manhattan prices.

This how much Elvis was revered? Still an amazing draw? Can't think of any other person whose home has so much value.

One of the most difficult problems in computer programming, apparently, is updating existing displayed content based on the creation of a filter. When I block a user in Ivory, their posts remain depending on what level I’m at.

In NewsBlur, telling it I don’t want to see content from a site removes that story, but another story in the timeline remains.

Come on folks, it’s trivial to refilter the whole timeline. I find this lack of excellence disheartening.
