100 years ago the first Icelandic art gallery and live-in studio opened, and it is one of my favourite buildings in the city.
Designed and built specifically for Icelandic sculptor Einar Jónsson, it was made in a neoclassical style, with some interesting design additions both on the inside and out.
This picture of it, newly built, standing alone on a hill overlooking the rest of, what was then just a town, is also a favourite.
