It will make no difference whatsoever if is banned from the ballot in or indeed any other blue state. All the matters is whether or not he is banned in a red state or in PA, WI, GA or AZ, ie one of the battleground states.

@jhall251 @GottaLaff @pixelpusher220 I think our country is … okay … when a republican wins the presidency, as long as the candidate isn’t committed to turning America into a tin pot dictatorship. I think we could recover from a Haley presidency. On the other hand, it does feel like we are on the tipping point on climate change between ’bad’ and ‘real bad’. That’s existential, and Republicans are bad on that issue.

@GottaLaff @jhall251 @pixelpusher220 I think a Trump presidency averted is a bullet dodged. Biden has been surprisingly effective in really difficult circumstances and he’s earned another term. But he might not win. If he doesn’t, much better for the world if it’s Haley. Desantis, I’m not willing to say that.

@GottaLaff @jhall251 @pixelpusher220 every presidential election in the last 30 years has been presented in apocalyptic terms, but state offices is where the sausage is made. Imo, (and I’m just some online idiot, so who cares what I think) the left/center left focuses too much on the glamor of the presidency and not enough on the meat and potatoes of democracy.

@jhall251 @GottaLaff @pixelpusher220 I’m sorry, really didn’t intend to come across as insulting. But I do think we tend to concentrate attention on the top of the ticket, ceding state offices and political infrastructure because we don’t feed it attention and resources. Then when a democrat does occupy the presidency, we find ourselves bargaining away asylum seekers and the dreamer kids in order to move on critical national security concerns.

A friend of mine is looking for simple but good strategy games for her 17-year-old son. He likes Fluxx and Troika.

He does not like games with a big back story that take hours to play.

Catan or Carcassone are too complex (and Arkham Horror is TOTALLY out of the running).

Basically, games that you can play in 30-60 minutes, NOT games that take 30-60 minutes to set up, and then hours to play.

@killyourfm @NetHandle I mean, I don’t know the op, but I don’t think this is journalism, I think it’s a post on Mastodon. The point vibes with my general sense that creatives and people who value creative work are getting hosed by tech companies. Not that I have a solution. I miss having a cd collection.

@RickiTarr mandatory, no. Reformed, yes. Non-partisan technocrats handling redistricting. Ranked choice ballots. Election days are holidays*. Publicly funded campaigns. Mandatory transparency for all campaign contributions. Election drop-boxes. Raises for election workers.

*I mean holidays with bbq’s and watch parties. Fireworks. The whole shebang!
