About by PCalc for visionOS is now available!

Perhaps the most pointless app on Vision Pro, but still quite fun to play with. This is a complete remake of the original PCalc About screen in VR. It's basically me experimenting with what's possible today with RealityKit, over-engineering things as usual, and then for some inexplicable reason actually shipping it. I hope you enjoy it!

@gedeonm My m1 iPad Pro just stopped charging reliably, apparently due to a wonky port (i can charge via the smart keyboard’s port). Desperately awaiting a new iPad Pro, with camera on the correct side.

I’ve got a great product idea for Apple. It’s a market that can bring in recurring revenue through consumables. One that has a variety of existing poor products with bad user interfaces, buggy software, and privacy issues.

Saw a driver with a dash full of Squishmallows today lined up across their entire front windshield. Not the small ones either, they were like the 6-8” versions. How this person hasn’t been in a wreck or received a ticket yet is beyond understanding. 🤦‍♂️

@gedeonm yeah, but unlike your Y (and my S), it’s not Nazi-certified. Honestly, though, charge port on the wrong side is a deal-breaker for me. I can’t reverse into my garage because then my kid won’t be able to get in the car every morning.

@gedeonm They call me all the time -even when my 11 year-old model s is in the shop (pretending to be asking about service, but really trying to sell me a new car). I have told them repeatedly why I will not buy another tesla. They obviously don’t take notes :-)

@gedeonm had a loaner new model S for a week a few weeks back. Not even a turn signal stalk. Need to use screen to shift. Ridiculously dangerous. Trying to signal while steering wheel is not perfectly centered always required me to look down to find the right button.

@simonbs Haven’t used the device yet, but I’m wondering if review prompts and other extraneous (as in “not requested by the user”) windows might be much more annoying to the user in a spatial environment than they are in conventional devices?

The season finale of #Futurama was amazeballs, right up there with some of the series best episodes. I hope Hulu renews it for more. On the whole, the season was great except for ep 9, wow no clue what they were thinking there. Just grateful we got more Futurama. 👍

Went to get a Covid booster yesterday at Walgreens after my wife made us 5:30 pm and 5:45 appointments for a shot. Showed up on time, only to be told they didn't have me in their system.

30 minutes later, it dawned on them that maybe I'd never filled a prescription through their system before. Turns out, even though my wife had filled out all the right forms, they had a pile more forms for me and proceeded to ask me a bunch of personal health info in front of a long line.

15 minutes later, and 45 min after my "appointment" they were still registering me in Walgreen's system. I left because we also had a dinner reservation a few minutes after that.

Hard to believe they're only just figuring this out. Nobody is going to bother at Walgreens if it's this hard.

@briankrebs I tried to get a covid booster there one time. I was already in their system, and I made an appointment 2 weeks out. Showed up, and was told they had no vaccine, and “someone should have called me.” This weekend I’ll try CVS for the first time. Fingers crossed. (All my other shots were done at a medical clinic).

While being in a galaxy far far away is pretty neat, we have yet another “searching” episode. Spent 6 episodes searching for Thrawn and w/ 3 left we now search for Ezra. Glad we finally fraking found him.

I heard a lot of people last week say “maybe next week something will happen”. Guess we’re pushing that back another week then?

Also, if you were trapped in a distant galaxy and finally had the chance to escape, do you think you’d have your troops load stuff lazily? 🙄

@gedeonm I gave up. I haven’t watched this week’s episode yet, because I completely lost interest. I don’t know who these characters are, who they are looking for, and why any of this matters. And it was moving so slowly that I just can’t take any more.
