Everyone, please meet Nimona!!!!! She is 7.3 pounds. Balances on my leg perfectly without assistance, and naturally angles the neck up which encourages a straight wrist while I’m sitting down. She is in the satin burgundy mist finish. A Charvel Pro-Mod DK 24 HH 2 PT electric guitar. She has Seymour Duncan pickups and the tone versatility so far blows me away. A close up of Nimona’s neck, my new Charvel DK 24 Pro Mod HH electric guitar. The neck is roasted/caramelized maple. It is full of wood character with swirls of darker lines throughout. The color is like a perfect warm tan, and the logo is in soft ivory. The tuners are Charvel labeled and silver. Substantial and nice. The nut is graph tusq, an equivalent to bone. It is off white. the neck is all one piece.

Curious what everybody feels about electric guitar strings! I want to try a set of Elixir strings. I like Ernie Ball regular slinky. Super slinky too. D’Addario (so?) have nice resonance but to me there is some uneven balance in tone and some muddiness in the lower ranges. #gearsquad #guitar #strings #electric #gear #ElectricGuitar

Hey #GearSquad I need keyboard controller recs. My studio space can accommodate a 49 key controller. This will mostly be used to record the piano arrangements for my vocals. I may use it alongside an M8 Tracker, a Lemondrop, and other little guy synths. But for the critical purpose, it needs to be a nice playing piano. I’m looking at the NI Komplete Kontrol, the Arturia Keylab 49, and the M Audio Oxygen Pro but if you have other considerations let me know. Idk about these synth style keybeds.

When I was just exploring instruments, I felt a lot more confident about my abilities as a guitarist. Now that I’m more focused on electric guitar, I am surprised at how I really feel it hard when all the “legendary” guitar lists I come across only feature men. I end up feeling like I don’t belong. I’m still a singer-songwriter first. But I want more female/non-binary/trans guitarists in my world, and some who are also living well and paying the bills with their music. :blobcatcoffee:

Yesterday I hunted guitar tones, and wasn’t pleased with anything so I went back to my ol user patched Ice World Guitar settings lol! Considering a Harmony Juno, Thinline, a Fender Jaguar, Strat, or Tele. I’m planning a trip to a music shop this weekend to try out what they have. :blobaww: I want something that is comfortable to record on sitting down. I prefer the neck to be at a higher angle, kind of like when you play classical guitar, rather than parallel to the floor, because I like the wrist dexterity to articulate and move about. Any thoughts on this? I don’t want it cutting in painfully to my chest.

It was a tough week for feelings. This month last year was my rock bottom. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t sit up straight in a chair for more than a few minutes at a time. I couldn’t hold a thought in my head. I had reached the final stage of burnout, total collapse. I wondered 4-5 times every day if I needed to ask my partner to drive me to the hospital. I knew in my heart and in my gut if I didn’t leave my job, I would tip past that point of no return. It was so clear in my mind.

Ok #GearSquad buddies, if I would like to lengthen the sustain on clean, and thicken/widen the notes on the higher strings, what effects chain in Logic would you all recommend? I don’t have enough space to get any pedals yet except for the mirrorhouse and the KinKin gummy bear chorus pedal. So for now I’m using the DAW. Thanks!! I can track the higher end parts separately so that I don’t over amplify the lower end parts, if that will help get what I’m going for on the high end. :blobcatcoffee:

I aimed to create the windy howls of rocky places like the Grand Canyon or somewhere in Utah by manipulating sounds in Hypha, Piano Colors, and Noire piano from NI. No loops. Nimona (Charvel pro mod 24 DK) is set up with some compression, a spreader, silver and chromaverb, and a multi spread time delay (studio and tape). #guitar #ambient #PostRock #music
