Ok buddies, if I would like to lengthen the sustain on clean, and thicken/widen the notes on the higher strings, what effects chain in Logic would you all recommend? I don’t have enough space to get any pedals yet except for the mirrorhouse and the KinKin gummy bear chorus pedal. So for now I’m using the DAW. Thanks!! I can track the higher end parts separately so that I don’t over amplify the lower end parts, if that will help get what I’m going for on the high end. :blobcatcoffee:

Everyone please meet Callie, taking a break next to two of her instrument siblings.. She is helping me complete my first album ever, and we have two songs out of six done! 🖤✔️ Callie is a Taylor 512ce in urban red ironbark. She’s unreal. A shorter scale length ebony fretboard is very comfortable and adds mellowness to the slightly smaller body’s tone. :blobcat:

A close up of Callie the Taylor 512ce acoustic guitar. Her crelicam ebony saddle and brown tortoiseshell binding are so lovely.
A vertical shot down the fretboard of Callie the Taylor 512ce acoustic guitar on her onstage guitar stand. The red in the ironbark is warm and rich with dark big netting in the wood. Her pick guard is tortoiseshell.

Practice went well today. My voice was a bit choked up. But I’ve been sniffly and sneezy all day. Allergies to ????? Who knows lol. But still feeling good about it. :) Ran through about 11 or 12 of my songs. Hope you all have a restful evening! :blobcat:

Practice went better today. I’ve got enough material 4 1/2 albums (!!!) to be planned out; just need to get the first one out the door and build that momentum. Let’s do this :toucan:

Feeling discouraged. I have so much work; really good completed songs. They are really good. I believe in them. Getting them out into the world in a presentable form is scary and hard. :BlobhajShock:

Yesterday I worked on the songs for a winter album, piano and voice. Running through all the arrangements of my completed songs and tightening everything up. Need to get a more stable, easy set up for filming clips and such. :blobcatcoffee:

I’m going to talk about it because I think it’s important. Some part of my education or musical programming/upbringing had me in a fixed mindset that being a singer-songwriter, especially one that plays guitar, was a less-than activity. Something to be ashamed of. That if I was to be a “real” musician, I would resume violin, or pursue pedal harp fully, or resume cello. I had to go through a whole mental reprogramming over the past few YEARS to get that (MOSTLY!) out of my head.

I’ve been working on Sunflowers. A song written on harp, and transcribing it to another instrument has proved challenging. But harp overpowers my vocals unless I overpower the harp and then I have to delete the subtle color stuff I like to do with my voice. Can be fun but will be done later when micing acoustically is a bit easier. Maybe the stair step melody as an intro and drone fifths or octaves or something, or soft chords to back the instrumentals off….hmmmmmm

Do you have fret preferences on a guitar? Let me know your thoughts, if you’d like! :blobcatcoffee: also feel free to add a different preference in the comments if it’s not listed here. #guitar #frets #GearSquad #poll

When I was just exploring instruments, I felt a lot more confident about my abilities as a guitarist. Now that I’m more focused on electric guitar, I am surprised at how I really feel it hard when all the “legendary” guitar lists I come across only feature men. I end up feeling like I don’t belong. I’m still a singer-songwriter first. But I want more female/non-binary/trans guitarists in my world, and some who are also living well and paying the bills with their music. :blobcatcoffee:

If you were only bringing one synth keyboard with you on stage to perform, what would you bring up there? I’m asking because I have a vision of me, my guitar, and a stage synth I could stand near and use on and off. It would have to also carry some nice analog piano sounds at times. Not sure if it’s possible to do unless it’s a midi controller with laptop. But it’d be so cool if it was a standalone analog unit. The simplicity appeals. :blobcatcoffee: #GearSquad

We went to the guitar shop! It was awesome! I got a Spectraflex cable and some picks, a guitar strap and tried out a few guitars. A fender vintera (it wanted to play grunge/punk), a fender Strat from 2012 I think? (Nice but not comfortable for me in the neck) and a 1990’s MiM Strat (very nice!!) it was so nice to be in there for a while and I didn’t want to leave :blobcat:

Do you all actually use a “picking technique” when playing electric guitar with a pick, or just wing it? I’ve always used finger picking because I learned acoustic guitar first that way. But I’ve been trying to experiment with a pick especially because I’m wanting to master “Snow (Hey Oh)” by Red Hot Chili Peppers. #guitar #GearSquad #musician
