TW: medical stuff, meds, anxiety

So… today is the first dose of my new med for Rheumatoid Arthritis (seropositive).

I’m nervous. This means that moving forward my immune system will be even more fragile. I’ll basically be on a weekly low dose chemo drug and … wait … to see if it helps.

I’m not asking for sympathies or anything like that - I simply want to document my journey and show that just because you’re young and ‘look’ healthy —- it doesn’t mean you’re healthy.

"Verbal "means "related to words," so "nonverbal" suggests that we don't have any words or any language.
This is untrue, and this assumption has kept us nonspeakers trapped by low expectations from others.

It is more accurate to say "nonspeaking" because our disability affects our ability to speak reliably as a form of communication, even though we have words in our brains and can express them in other ways."

Home Care Services just left, it was completely useless 13 days after the surgery. But I prefer to put emphasis on the amazing health workers at the hospital who took and continue to take care of me since my mastectomy and the complication. I can ask or tell them anything, they are always here for me!

I thank them, especially bc I’m alone here with my husband to face everything. Don’t hesitate to thank them, it makes so much impact from my own experience!

Dear #ActuallyAutistic how do you stop, if you can do it, thinking and/or playing again and again in your head the conversations you had wondering what you should have said or not? What did this answer or question means? Because it’s exhausting. I’m not sure if it’s only an autistic thing? Question also for #AuDHD (being both).

*** EDIT: Being exhausted with a tiny focus capacity right now, it’s very difficult to no ruminate past conversations.

Ou encore celles qui prônent l’utilisation de l’Applied Behavorial Therapy (ABA) qui l’équivalent de la thérapie de conversion.

Talked to a psychotherapist for the first ime today. She's ADHD, she has several autistic patients and she seems to have pretty updated knowledge about autism. And she speaks French and she's not very keen of CBT! I'm happy and relieved!

I’m looking for new, preferably free/low cost, ways to help me continue learning German.

I’ve been at it casually over the last year and want to continue learning more.

I’m ADHD and have limited cognitive and physical energy due to some long covid stuff, so if you do recommend something please keep that in mind. Thank you! 🤗

What do you think of that dear #ActuallyAutistic ?

A family member doesn't want to go on FB anymore (simply bc she lost interest in it) to read me while I communicate there with all my network. So, she asks me to send her news by email.

It doesn't seem to be a big deal but I have a limited amount of spoons currently and I'm working to put in place limits to cake care of myself. Is this too much?

People realize the #AltText is for visually impaired Fedi members right?

Not clout, not virtue signaling, not to accuse people who add missed alt text of passive aggression. Not to seem superior.

Jesus fucking christ what an ableist shitty take.

Stop excluding the disabled, or dont, idc, just shut the fuck up about it being "passive aggressive" if someone adds AltText in a reply.

I stopped taking the antidepressant that I had been taking again for about 10 days on the advice of my doctor to try to manage my anxiety related to my cancer diagnosis and I feel better. I had already started by reducing the suggested dose given the side effects, also bc the pharmacist had warned me of a possible interaction with another medication. I’ve also done research on the use of antidepressants for autistic people and the results are quite mixed so no more AD for me.

I just spent two hours sending and receiving emails for the new course I'm teaching starting January 2nd. I love my job and the novelty of this new course, but change is also difficult to manage of course being autistic. And there are still a lot of unknowns, but that’s the game!
