So I was craving a hot fudge sundae earlier. I grabbed the ice cream, put it in a bowl, I then went to the fridge and grabbed what I thought for sure was the chocolate sauce, I was so certain that I did not bother to grab my phone and use Be My Eyes. Unfortunately, to my horror, it was ketchup. I did not discover this until I went to put the ice cream in the microwave for 15 seconds just long enough to melt the chocolate sauce a little, I decided to take a taste before hand. And that is when I tasted my colossal mistake. I have never liked ketchup to begin with, but now it is personal with me and catch up! L O L.#BeMyEyes.

So yesterday I mentioned that I was going to be starting my own YouTube channel. Today I published my first video. It’s probably not my best, but I will get better at things as time goes on. An introduction to who I am, and why I created this channel

Apple explains why it will not make major iOS policy changes outside of the EU

https://9to5mac.com/2024/01/25/third-party-app-stores-browsers-eu/

Willpogor,

@podcast @simon So I am relatively new to this discussion, but if I’m understanding this correctly, if Apple were allowed, or if their customers were allowed to install side loaded apps on their phones, or what have you, could they then take an android app for example and put it on their Apple device?

Willpogor,

@simon @podcast OK I think I see where people are coming from now. So it’s almost kind of like Apple saying you can only install what we tell you you can install so let’s say for example if somebody makes an audio game that’s compatible with an iOS device, or another app that’s compatible with an iOS device, they can’t just upload it, they have to go to Apple strict guidelines first and hope that they get the OK. Where is if this were lifted they could just pull the app somewhere else or upload the app to the App Store and be able to have people download it right away?

So there's been some media stuff about Tesla chargers going down or getting long lines in this extreme cold we're having.

The factors there are complicated and mostly this is impacting people without charging at-home. As it happens, I'm now making a daily commute - just started in fact! And I'd like to report that my car is having no issues at all in this weather, and I haven't even plugged it in to charge in a few days.

Willpogor,

@FreakyFwoof @TechConnectify OK I just listened to that video, I’m not sure how they’re getting it to do that or what but it’s pretty damn funny!

my cat is sick for the second time in a month. I do not know if I can handle the stress or financial burden if this keeps happening. This sucks a lot.

Willpogor,

@MS26 I hope that your cat feels better. I love animals myself, and it’s no fun when they get sick. Emotionally or financially. I remember when my Chihuahua got a food float in his stomach. He was acting really strange and my wife and I, both scared out of our minds, took him to the vet. $900 later, he was better. Thank goodness they didn’t have to do surgery. If I remember correctly, he kind of just passed it on his own.

Willpogor,

@MS26 Well, no matter what you decide, keep this in mind. You are doing what’s best for you and that animal. So if you feel that you have too much anxiety to care for it. Don’t beat yourself up about that. There are plenty of places where you can take it to be adopted into a loving home. If you do decide to keep it, Then that is also good because you are showing that animal lots of love. This is just my opinion for what it’s worth.

I understand the surprise about Apple announcing Vision Pro pre-orders with a press release rather than a big event, especially given how big a deal they seem to think it is, but on the other hand, supply will reportedly be around a half-million units for the first year, which they will easily sell through on the previous marketing alone (yes, even at that price). From a marketing perspective, it doesn’t need an event (and too much excitement might hurt if no one can get one).

#Apple #VisionPro

Willpogor,

@maxleibman OK there is something that I do not understand. For the cited users out there, it seems like Vision Pro the headset that is, will offer a visual virtual reality. I listened to the event where Apple unveiled it, and I have to admit it really sounded, neat! However, and this is just my personal take on things, I’m not sure how it could be useful to the visually impaired community. Is the sound going to be of extremely high-quality?

@accessibleandroid I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is William, and I recently discovered the accessible android app that I am running on my tablet. Although I have an iPhone as my primary device, I have a tablet and android tablet that is. I’m not sure of the Macon model, it was a free one, provided by my government, to ensure that I have Internet access. I once had talked back along time ago, but switched to Apple. But now I am starting to dabble in the world of talk back again. I hope to learn some new and amazing things by following this page on Mastodon. However, when I try to log into my account on the accessible android app after creating one, or I just created one, rather, it doesn’t seem to load the page that is all my credentials are correct. As anyone else run into this issue? I am running chrome on my tablet.

Willpogor,

@accessibleandroid Thank you very much. The odd thing is, I was able to login just fine on my iOS device through the website. But on the android app side of things, I put in my username and password, and it seems like chrome is stuck at 10%. And it doesn’t finish. Maybe I’m not waiting long enough for it to load, though, I doubt this, since I waited two or three minutes. And I am on my Wi-Fi. And everything else seems to work fine.

Willpogor,

@accessibleandroid OK, thank you so much for this. For now I have put a home icon on my iOS device so I can access it from there. Another question I had I can’t seem to find out how to post new content. Is there a certain link I need to look for? I looked through all the links And didn’t come up with anything. I don’t really have anything to post right now, I was just going to introduce myself on the forums and such.

You know, I wonder when, if ever, I'll get bored or tired of Forza. I remember saying that I can't remember having this much fun with a game in recent times, but the longer this goes on the more I'm convinced that it's not just recent times, it's... uh... kind of ever?
Like compared to a sighted player I might not be very good but I also haven't really tried.
So yeah I dunno for me, the simple fact that people cared about accessibility for this game completely changed what I do with my free time ever since this game released. And I don't think it'll change anytime soon.
So if you're a game dev, consider accessibility. You might make a bigger impact on someone than you realize.

Willpogor,

@talon It sounds like a very fun game. Hopefully I will be able to try it out one day. I am very unfamiliar with games for other platforms besides iOS and PC and Mac, so if this a game specifically for the Xbox series? And if so, which Xbox series is it?

Willpogor,

@talon Oh wow, really! That is so awesome! I’ll have to figure out where to get it from then.

So today, I went to my mom‘s house, because she had gotten a bunch of stuff out of storage, such as photo albums, and keepsakes from my childhood. To my delight, she had saved a house that my dad and I had made together out of popsicle six back in the summer of 1995, when we went to family camp week, at a summer camp in mid to northern Michigan. I can’t believe this thing survived 28 years, through multiple moves! #Photography #Crafts #Childhood #Memories.

I was just stuck on an elevator for 32 minutes. As bad as the claustrophobia was, I was stuck in there with a hundred-year-old woman and her chihuahua. The dog barked non-stop as the woman tried to set me up with her son. I was five minutes away from going full-on John McClane by ripping out a ceiling panel and climbing up the elevator shaft.

Willpogor,

@dancinyogi @SallyStrange First of all being stuck in an elevator by itself, would freak me out. I am curious how someone was able to be alerted to the fact that you guys are stuck? Was there a button on the wall you could push like an alarm or something? Second of all. That’s just awkward. To have someone say you know you should meet my son and maybe go out with them? Wow talk about being stuck in a situation you can’t get out of. Literally and physically.

Willpogor,

@dancinyogi @SallyStrange Yeah, if that had been me in there, I probably would’ve had a panic attack.

Real skeletons were used in the movie Poltergeist in 1982 because it was actually cheaper and more cost-effective than creating and using plastic fake ones. JoBeth Williams was not made aware that there were real skeletons were used in the scene until after she finished shooting it.

Willpogor,

@jeffowski What an interesting fact. I remember the first time I saw that movie I was about 10 at the time. I loved the movie. At the same time however, it really creeped me out! Lol have you ever watched poltergeist two? If so, what did you think of it. I thought it was really good as well. The third one though kind of really sucked! Also, I am curious about how the actress reacted to the fact that they use real skeletons? My suspicion is that she might’ve been really pissed!

Willpogor,

@jeffowski OK after listening to the YouTube interview, she wasn’t pissed. Just shocked. I also find it interesting that a medium or psychic or whoever you call it, I’m not sure if he was one of the castor crew. It seems that he was, came in in the middle of the night, to perform an exorcism on the skeletons in order to make sure that everything would be OK.

@davidGoldfield @weirdwriter I don’t have book share, but I do have Audible, so I am definitely going to check this out. I have to tell you, Mastodon is one of my favorite social networking apps. Or platforms rather. I don’t even like Facebook anymore. The only reason that I keep that around, is because I have friends and family that I like to keep in touch with.

    Willpogor,

@weirdwriter I just checked it out. What an awesome resource. I was able to add an icon to my home screen, so I can jump directly to the website whenever I want to check things out. I love that ability. To add an icon to my home screen right from the share sheet!

    Willpogor,

@davidGoldfield @weirdwriter Well, I will have to wait a little bit before looking at that book. Turns out I don’t have a subscription to Audible like I thought. Oh well I’m sure it’ll be there eventually. I’d like to see it on bard eventually also.

@gbhnews As for myself, things I do to protect, my mental health are listen to apps on my phone that have nature ambience. Talk with my therapist, rely on the love and support from my wife, Also going for a drive in the car with no particular destination, helps, or a ride in the car since I am blind and don’t drive. Lol. And finally listening to my favorite music or podcast.
