@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games

Hi there, my name is Andy, I'm from Belgium.
I spend most of my free time digitising and restoring classic video game magazines, mostly from the UK.
I've been doing this for nearly 20 years now and I'm here to share my passion for these magazines with others.
I love to read and talk about gaming memories from years gone by.

My main hobbies are gaming, both modern and retro gaming, as well as Japanese, South Korean and classic Hong Kong cinema.

Star Ocean the Second Story R is on sale on Amazon UK right now.

£22 on PS4
£23 on PS5
£26 on Nintendo Switch

At least for shipping to the EU.
Prices to the UK should be cheaper? due to the lack of VAT.

As I'm now thinking about some of my favourite Playstation 3 games, I wanted to do a shoutout to Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes.

This is Capcom's take on Omega Force's Musou (Warriors) games.

Even more over the top and somewhat more of an action game, even if you're not into the whole Musou thing, I still recommend to check this one out.
It is also on the Wii btw.

Absolutely brilliant series that rarely left Japan, sadly.

Somehow my mind is having a ridiculously hard time making sense of the fact that the PS3 is nearly 20 years old. 💀
NES? Sure!
Sega Saturn? No problem!
I can easily and gladly place them in their own time zone.
But 20 years for the PS3. Yeah, this one kinda breaks me. 😱

@chris I “only” have two.
Swapped my original model with a slim back in the day so it would last me a sew more years and also a brand super slim, super ugly thing. 😅

Been looking at the Japanese PSN store for PSOne and PC-Engine games that I missed and yeah, it’s going to cost me quite a bit more money to get all the ones I want. 👀

2026 is coming up rather quickly, so yeah, I’m afraid so. 😲

CVG definitely aren't known for pulling things out of their butt, so I went on a little investigation.

I didn't know them either, but apparently there was a heavyweight kickboxer names Yusuke Fujimoto, who had the nickname Bun Bun Maru.

But the one they are describing here is actually Motoki Shinohara:

Shinjuku Jacki is Takayuki Haneda:

Review for Vandal Hearts on PSone from CVG 187 - June 1997 (UK)

I have to add that I feel this score is way too low.
This one is an easy 4/5 at the very least and personally, I wouldn't be against giving it a 5.

Broken my ankle slipping over while running on a muddy trail. 6 weeks in a boot. First day of holiday. 😭

@matt ah damn!
Hope you’re not in too much pain right now.
And I’m hoping that you’ll be out before it gets warmer as that would be awful to have a cast in those conditions.

Ah, that's good at least.
Hoping recovery goes smoothly.

Just one article today, as I don't want people complaining to admins again that I'm spamming their feed. :cat_ick:

But it's a massive one!

hehe, well, if it really annoys people, there is always the mute button, so they don't have to see what we post.

It only happened once as far as I'm aware, but yeah, it did.

And I'm just about as clueless about it myself.
Like you say, just mute me. That makes so much more sense...

But there always seem to be people that think there are ulterior motives behind my posts and I'm looking for money or internet fame or something.
Never made a dime of it and it actually costs me quite a bit to keep going each year.

As for fame, I'd still be on Twatter if I cared about that at all. 😂

@LastContinue

hehe, yeah. They somehow copied the same Kanji twice and changed the meaning in the process completely. 😅

I'm actually impressed that they were able to copy the others correctly and use them in this layout as I've seen plenty of magazines which just take any random characters, slap them together and pretend like the sentence actually has any meaning.

Sega Force comes to mind.

It must have been 1998 when I decided to learn myself Katakana and Hiragana with nothing but a character sheet in a magazine and perhaps two dozen example words.
Then I started writing out all the Katakana words I found in Japanese Saturn manuals and translate them or perhaps I should say, try to make sense of them at that point. 😅

It felt so good to finally be able to navigate menus and understand basic words at the time.

Decided to make this post as it might help people out when hunting for Nintendo carts and steer them clear from pirated ones.

The general rule of thumb is that every western Nintendo cart from the NES up to the N64 and GBA have 2 clear things to look out for.

An indented number in the label, either on the front or the back.
As well as an F(ront) or B(ack) in the plastic at the connectors.

A NES cart for example:

Details in the pictures.

#retrogaming
#Nintendo
#shareyourgames

the same rule applies for the front which will have an F, alongside a number.
On the back label of a NES cart you will find an number imprinted into the label.
