Another way of looking at it is, the US military budget is $825 billion and USAID budget is $50 billion. (Already looking bad, USA…)
0.018% of USAID’s budget went to help Gaza, while 1.05% of the US military budget went to destroy Gaza. Congress doesn’t even give 1% of a shit about helping Gaza.
Probably around fifteen years ago, I saw a commercial set to - I think - the “Trololo” song (or, if not, a classical song). I think it was a commercial for M&Ms, but it was at least for a similar candy - lots of small bits in a candy shell. The candies were CGI and bouncing in time with the music in a sort of liquid fashion....
I’m getting texts about every 12 seconds saying TRUMP IS GUILTY SO YOU SHOULD GIVE MONEY TO THIS PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATE. I can only imagine the campaigning that is happening for people that actually like him.
Princess Kalina’s altered nose appearance stems from a series of health issues rather than cosmetic surgery mishaps. Initially, she experienced a seemingly minor injury that led to broken teeth from a fall. The dental repairs introduced a severe infection in her jaw, which required extended treatment and a complex operation to prevent further spread to other parts of her body. The lasting impact of this infection has notably affected the appearance of her nose.
while the USA depends on keeping some people so poor and their prospects so bleak that joining the military starts to look like a relatively good option.
Yes, that and also more than half of our military personnel are not enlisted soldiers, they are hired contractors. Half of those contractors are not US citizens, but “host country nationals” or “third country nationals.” The latter are migrant workers who suffer the worst working conditions with no recourse and very low pay. If the US did not depend so heavily on contractors, conscription would be necessary and people would get upset and start to question why we need so much military activity in the first place.
I get why people are nervous about prescribed burns, even though they are the answer. Yesterday there was a plume of smoke from a barn fire in Petaluma that was extremely visible three towns over. People were pulling over to the side of the road to get out their cars freak out and stare at it and ask each other if they knew what it was and check for Nixles and Watch Duty alerts. We’re a bit jumpy about smoke around here.
Where did you find this? What is the graphic to the left?
I don’t think it’s related, but there is a brand of sewing/embrodery machines called Baby Lock (as in smaller, home use version of an industrial overlocker sewing machine). Its logo is just the words Baby Lock inside an oval, nothing with babies or locks.
You’re not posting memes. You’re posting links to a blogspot. It’s not the same thing. And you’re cross posting them to so many communities. Please stop.
It was pretty tough working at a bakery stall at farmers markets when people were just starting to jump on the gluten free train. I’d have folks come up to me and start screaming at me that they needed spelt bread because of their celiac disease, and I was a heartless bitch for not having any. Explaining that spelt actually has more gluten than regular wheat was not a good idea, nor was explaining that to be safe for a person with celiac disease, bread would need to be 1) free of gluten containing grains, not just wheat and 2) baked in a facility where the air is not thick with wheat flour dust, depositing itself on every surface. “Give me my special bread! IT MAKES ME FEEL SPECIAL!!!”
