I'll be giving a talk at #DWebCamp2023 — in 2 weeks — on a new end-to-end encrypted, decentralized protocol for building decentralized applications powered by smart contracts… without blockchains.
@bblfish
I didn't mean to say that truth is relative. My position is that truth and falsehood cannot be determined a priori in order to ban falsehood. You have to allow the debate otherwise you will never know if you are wrong.
This, however, doesn't apply to ethical statements AFAICS.
@xianc78 I have a question about seasteading. What's stopping the governance of these floating islands from corrupting like on land? What's stopping states that form on the oceans from invading other states and forming empires?
Is the idea just to delay the inevitable?
Today FM recently won a number of awards for its digital news and current affairs productions. All of these went offline when the station's owners abruptly shut it down after only about a year on the air. This is a good example of why we need properly-funded public media organisations. We simply can't rely on profit-seeking corporations to do public interest media work, nor to keep it available for posterity if they do:
@strypey
By "properly funded" do you mean government funded?
I don't agree. I think any organisation is going to have a bias and it's not right to force people to pay for the spreading of views they disagree with (I only support it w.r.t. government because I see a lot of problems with ancapism).
>We simply can't rely on profit-seeking corporations
What about nonprofit but independent organizations?

as far as i can tell, Twitter and its nerdy cousin Mastodon have no culture for inviting people to partake in group activities. closest i've seen is people inviting you to Matrix rooms, but they're kind of similar to Mastodon itself, in that the only shared activity there is talking. there's nothing to immerse yourself in.
Fuck these people to hell and back. They're giving Jews a bad name.
In any sane world this wouldn't matter as much since something being antisemitic wouldn't be grounds for censorship. Unfortunately, we don't live in a sane world and the people pushing this are the same people who have the power to censor (governments in general) and do so when ethnic groups are insulted (EU).
I discovered something that the elite doesn't want you to know. There's no such thing as computer generated machine learning. They are using ghosts.
They have captured specters and wandering souls into servers and made them write inputs. That's why some of the art generated looks creepy and why details like hands are weird. Being incorporeal for so long made them forget how fingers are drawn.
AI really stands for Afterlife Intelligence. And ChatGPT is really Chat Graveyard Powered Transformer.
@condret
You believe in a welfare state. Isn't that hierarchical? There's someone with the money and someone who needs it. And the entity with the money has the power to collect it without consent and choose who gets it.
Also, a free market doesn't have to have an owner class. That's often called "left market anarchism" but many who identify as ancaps don't have a problem with LMA. @Radical_EgoCom
Testing out open federation.
