BeAware, to fallout

Recently, with my obsession with Fallout 76, I decided to re-install Fallout 4 and give it another go because I haven't played it since it came out after I completed the main game.

But I think I done goofed because I also installed a MASSIVE modpack called StoryWealth which seems to add a bunch of quests and story stuff, but it also adds a whole re-design of the settlement system.

In the modpack, the settlement system is VERY involved. To the point where I feel it's basically "There's another settlement that needs your help, I'll mark it on your map!" The Game. :kek:

If there's anyone that's VERY familiar with Fallout 4 mods that can recommend me something that changes the settlement system, but not in such a drastic way, I'd be forever grateful. I'm looking for something a little more "hands-off". If that makes any sense😬

EricBeaudry,

@BeAware Sim settlements 2 is worth looking into https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47976 you can get very involved if you want but you can also put everything in auto mode and simply visit once in a while. Comes with a couple of well crafted quests too.

EricBeaudry,

@BeAware if I remember correctly, you’ll have to get through the first few steps of building a settlement manually and then gain access to a console that let you decide what you want to automate.

subjacentish, to random

It's important to actually take Gov't communication at face value. The sky is actually blue, believe it or not.

Lemme exemplify.

EricBeaudry,

@andymoose @subjacentish you know who gets really sick these days? Health care personnel! Many of them are already out for the count and the rest have caught it 2-3 times already. That doctor will most probably be the patient in the near future and have to face that horror. Life is a bitch.

PacificNic, to random

The fact that someone I know was explicitly told, "don't say COVID," for a public-facing report they were writing where COVID was HIGHLY relevant says a lot, to me, about the state of things.

EricBeaudry,

@PacificNic what would be the word describing this behaviour? It’s clearly not denial anymore. And it not a lie either. They simply hide the truth. Just read an article regarding the situation of Quebec emergency occupation (over 135%) the worst in 5 years (yeah, that means we never reached that level since the pandemic started) and not a word about covid. Everything is now blended in a respiratory illness. What good does it serve to hide the reality???

@robert_p_king I had several strange issues too (from auth not working properly to break points jumping around while debugging) until I deleted all obj and bin folders manually and rebuild all projects. Worth a try!

  • EricBeaudry,

@lzg if I had to build that, I would climate control the bookshelves only. Smaller dehumidifiers and ventilation requirements. Properly sealed with front glass door panels would keep the book in pretty good shape.

I'm thinking of switching to a 3M 6000 half face respirator with source control filter instead of my Flo Mask. I'd paint it 90's theme colours. I've been avoiding the proper respirators because I've been worried people will think I'm weird but, really, is their opinion going to be different whether it's a Flo Mask or a 3M? The seal is so much more reliable on the 3M and COVID is so contagious and sooooo bad for you. I'm undecided but I guess why care when I don't value the opinions of people that don't mask anyway?

Thoughts? Wondering how others feel about wearing a respirator like the 3M 6000?

    EricBeaudry,

@PacificNic casual attire when going out shopping. The looks I get 😳. But this is SO over the top for people that they don’t dare to ask or comment on the mask. They just stay the f… away! For some context, I’m highly immunosuppressed and unvaccinatable because of some dangerous interactions with the underlying condition. Something about b and t cells getting a little too excited and eating me alive. Hence the full mask. But to your original question, you definitely can wear a half mask. Even more if you don’t mind the looks and judgement.

I bought a new bathroom scale because I'm not sure my old one is accurate.

But now I don't know which one is right.

I should buy a third bathroom scale.

    EricBeaudry,

@hotkey and why not just keep the one that makes you happier…

So I have to pay to not get in shape.

I’m moving away from my best friend tomorrow and I’m really, really sad about it…

It hit me tonight harder than I expected. 😥

    EricBeaudry,

@britt kinda know the feeling, I’m terrible at goodbyes. But remember, you can keep contact better than any time before, these days. Stay strong!

    mobiuscog, to linux

Question for any devs: Is a viable desktop solution on ?

I would really like to use it to create cross-platform desktop apps, but everything seems to mention windows/mac/mobile and Linux is generally missing, despite being .NET core based.

It seems a great solution but I just need a suitable resource to bring it together. C#, .NET core and is already a great experience on Linux, and I just need UI now.

    EricBeaudry,

@mobiuscog I think you are referring to MAUI Blazor hybrid mode which is not supported on Linux desktop. Afaik #blazor alone requires a browser or web viewer (which is what MAUI wraps around your blazor to make it run like a desktop app). The UI options are thus limited when targeting Linux with #dotnet. Avalonia might be worth looking into or you revert to a browser. I’d be happy to learn if you find more viable options.
