Mom. Wife. Lawyer. Love music, travelling, cycling, and laughing. And coffee, can't forget the coffee! I'm a goofball who likes to be silly. Toots ≠ advice. #yeg#ADHD
@ned I got complimented by two gentlemen yesterday on my human-powered scooter. Just a simple kick scooter that I use to get around the neighbourhood sometimes because I find walking to be annoyingly slow when I actually want to get somewhere.
I've received a number of friend requests on Facebook recently, from random men I've never heard of. Completely random, from places I've never been to. I keep my account pretty locked down, other than maybe a handful of public posts that are intentionally public.
Why the sudden surge of random friend requests?
@Chigaze I don't even do that much. Certainly not recently. I don't think... And almost all of what I comment on is local - posts from the City, or local politicians... So weird, and creepy AF.
So a 45 year old woman was killed in SE #yeg when RCMP laid down spikes along 50th Street around 23rd Ave (a very busy piece of road, from what I remember), which disabled a whole bunch of civilian vehicles before sending the stolen U-Haul they were after out of control and into her. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't a spike belt be laid out AFTER a road block, not just thrown down on the road for anybody to hit? The thief then jacked a car which had a kid, who was found safe minutes after.
TFW you're reading a mystery set in the UK written by a UK resident author and your keen detective abilities make you think "hmmmm, US edition?"🤔 #AmReading#mystery@bookstodon#ebooks#Kobo
Please recommend some fr-en bilingual accounts for me to follow. Like regular folk who post about every day stuff, their lives and hobbies, but who post in both languages, at least sometimes. I've been enjoying the little bits of French coming across my feed sometimes and I enjoy the banter that seems to accompany bilingual posts. If I can remember, I'll try to post a bit more in French myself, just for the practice.
@Chigaze@RickiTarr Pain au chocolat is my European sin food. I probably gained 5 pounds on these alone when we were in Greece years ago and found packaged ones sold in all the markets and convenience stores. Easiest and best backpackers breakfast ever! Of course the packaged ones are nowhere near as good as bakery fresh...
Omg now I'm reminiscing about French bakeries... 🤤
@senanthic@McRocker Agreed. It sounds very much like a boy crying wolf. People are making it sound like a holy shit situation, when in reality, we've been getting these kinds of warnings at least twice a year for years - during the hottest and coldest days of the year. It isn't new, and shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Aaaaannnd given this, why the hell is capacity still an issue?? 🤔
Is it possible to have #Firefox remember my cookie preferences for websites? I've searched it, and read the cookies article on Mozilla support, but didn't find anything. I'm getting tired of being asked about cookies every single time I go to some websites, would like to set them to "necessary only", and not be asked again. I feel like I'm missing something.
Are there any City of #Edmonton children's programs or rec activities that DON'T take place in the deep suburbs? A brief look through various options showed only places like Terwilligar, Clareview, and some place on 35 Ave SW. 35 AVE SOUTHWEST! That's like a whole other city from me. #yeg
It's been a weekend. Between a super hyper 9-year-old, a toddler demanding we make and remake floor puzzles over and over - followed by nearly 2 hours of crying & screaming when we finally said enough - and fatigue, I'm done. I just don't have the energy to do this and work full time. #burnout#parenting#ADHD
It's so hard when 9 gets sick because he just can't blow his nose properly. He's never been able to. He just keeps sucking it back, keeping the sick in. 😞 it's so frustrating. #parenting
everyone else has their camera on. I'm standing firmly neurodivergent on this: I do not want you to see me. being in this meeting is CR10. turning the camera on brings it to CR20 and I do not have enough spells prepared
@senanthic For me it depends on the type of meeting. If it's one I generally don't have to participate in (webinar or presentation) I keep it off. If it's an interactive session, particularly in a smaller group, I'll turn it on but set it so that I either can't see myself or I am as small as possible.
@stephanie Pfft... Unbelievers. Hubby brought home 2 sheets of drywall on top of our Elantra last week. And we moved every piece of Ikea furniture we bought with our old Echo. Just gotta get creative.
4:30 on Friday afternoon, i find out that someone I know may have passed away. I have no way of following up on this information except to reply to the person who informed me and wait for a response. This is shocking and upsetting and not how I wanted to end an already super crappy week! 😧😢
@joat@stephanie Europe is so far ahead on so many things. Noise regulations have been a thing there for decades and here we're still wringing our hands - but who's going to enforce it? And how do we prove noise in court? And and and what about what about... 😣
@DavidM_yeg@stephanie@joat Thing is they rarely charge homeless folks when they disrupt tent cities, they just harass them and trash their stuff. They don't have to worry about showing up to court and defending their tickets. And homeless folk would be much less likely to fight their charges anyway. Rich folk with noisy toys, on the other hand... Or businesses that don't want to spend $ to comply with laws...
