It's kinda sad when "trust issues" are seen as an issue that a singular person has when it's literally other people that cause it...mine continue to get reinforced more and more every day unfortunately.🤷♂️
Don't 100% trust anybody, cause even if you're 99.9% sure they won't screw you over/ghost you/lie to you, that .01% will probably bite you in the ass...
I have one IRL friend that hasn't and I'm 30 years old. With the amount of friends I've lost; it'd take a lifetime of the opposite experience to prove to me otherwise unfortunately, and that feeling sucks.
PSA: Since Threads apparently will be federating replies soon, I thought I should post this again, because there's still a lot of people that don't know.
When a normal user uses "block this domain" it's LITERALLY just a MUTE. The blocked server can still see, interact, and reply to your posts, you just won't be able to see them.
It's kinda like sitting in a room with hungry bears while wearing a blindfold. If you're scared of hungry bears, your best bet is to get out of the room, not put a blindfold on. And by this, I simply mean to migrate to an instance where the blocks are up to your standard on the "instance" level.
Stay informed and make informed decisions, no matter what you choose to do with your Fediverse presence.
@BeAware My instance mastodon.green is allowing Threads. I hate Zuck but i am not stupid. Most big accounts that find Mastodon too confusing will move there. So it is nice to be able to interact with them. I like that my server lets me still choose to do that.
Hey @MonaApp, is there a slight possibility we could get a "Hashtag Drawer" feature where you can save individual hashtags for easy re-use along with keeping the CamelCase, pretty please?😅
The hashtag suggestions are great with this for the most part, but if there could just be a box of hashtags you could save without having to start typing each one in first. That'd be awesome!
Though, something I noticed on IceCubes with that feature, it doesn't work, for me at least. It only uses the first hashtag in the group for me.
The way I figured this out is, when I went to the group, I looked for posts that contained JUST hashtags that didn't include the first one. I'm willing to bet you won't be able to find any. Then search for a tag in your list that's also not the first, and see what youre missing from the list....😬
Hmmm...wonder how long this has been a thing...if it's fairly new, I wonder if Threads is further along in their AP implementation than they're letting on...
To be clear, I'm talking about how Fedi handles show up as links on Threads. They don't actually link to anything yet, but they do show up as links.🤔
I mean, it's not THAT hard to code in. It was probably part of the initial setup due to having to format user names so people like us can search accounts on Threads.
I HATE that Mastodon automatically adds previous mentions to replies. Like...why?!?
Also, if you see this happening, why don't you remove the mentions before hitting send? Do you really think 30 people need a notification for your reply?!?!🤯
Corporate social media sites are so dumb...Threads has a link section in the bio, where I naturally link to my Fedi profile. But, of course Meta tries to add a tracking tag to the url, which I assume tries to link up with user agents and cookies from sites.
Fedi doesn't have that, so clicking the link on my Threads page fails....🤦♂️
Funny, cause their tactics didn't work and maddening at the same time.
@BeAware Before I deleted LinkedIn (but when I already fully degoogled) I tried their contacts import feature and was so amused when it nicely crashed on Protonmail address (I didn't have significant contacts on list then so I could safely test it without exposing innocent people to MS).
