@gruber I adored the hybrid: ”compact classic & modern tab bar with colors”. It was a temporary experiment. I can’t recall for how long they evaluated that option, but I think it was only part of iPadOS 14.

A micro SwiftUI PSA in case it helps someone: foregroundColor() is soft deprecated, and you should move over to foregroundStyle() 👍

@twostraws I remember seeing a deprecation warning in Xcode for the foregroundColor() modifier, so I think a lot of developers have noticed it. That said, I generally target iOS/iPadOS 17 and macOS 14 Sonoma. I assume it does not show up if the minimum OS version in Xcode is set to a lower version, so it’s a great mention 💯

@Gargron Hah, try any Swedish train company, especially SJ. In the summer, the tracks get too hot and need maintenance work. In the winter, snow gets in the way. No matter the season, there are significant delays on a regular basis. Sometimes passengers get stranded for hours in the middle of nowhere and have to wait for things to resume. Usually they get fed free food to compensate for the inconvenience, but I bet it’s not fun 😅

@dimillian I purchased the game earlier this week. I’m only on world 2 so far. Looking backto Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, I completed the whole game but still struggling with getting all stars and such. There are pieces missing.

Ice Cubes is now available as a proper macOS application! If you had the iOS app installed on your mac, you can remove it and install this one instead.

This is the first version. A lot of macOS-specific features will be added in the future!

Tore my meniscus during a Krav Maga takedown, 13 months ago. Got surgery, got better.

Felt a sharp pain in the same knee during practise last night, and it's been feeling agitated all day so far.

Please send me some good vibes, so this heals on its own and doesn't require surgery, again. 😣

@dimillian In Sweden, there is a forced EU mandate that is making our healthcare collapse: a rigid work/sleep schedule which goes against the principles of night-shift healthcare (including firefighters!). Sweden also took issue with EU competition laws on strawberries (a complicated issue). The third objection was an upheaval attempt for an excemption clause relating to fermented herring. There are more issues, too.

Despite all this, I’m pro EU.

@djlink Those blocks are so tiny compared to Windows 95 using FAT16 (in the early Win95 iterations) on a 1 GB or 2 GB partition 🙂. I don’t miss the mechanical hard-drive sound but some people may find it quite the opposite: a feature.

@jamesthomson Never thought about that, but here are two alternatives: ”My name is Bond … James Connery Moore Brosnan Dalton Lazenby!”. Option two: ”I’m Batman … Adam West Bale Pattinson Keaton Clooney Kilmer!” (Non-extensive inclusion of actors’ names). The Batman option didn’t come out quite right, though!

@dimillian Personally I do not want to be fed opinions on news. I create my own curation of tech news feeds via RSS using the ol’ classic NetNewsWire app. For any world news, I just visit trusted national news sources’ websites and sometimes sites like BBC if I need a deeper understanding not covered by national websites.

@jamesthomson This is really scary (AI encouraging criminal behaviour). There will always be lunatics, but we don’t need chatbots boosting a twisted mind’s ideas. Also, I really respect BBC’s professionalism in the way they approached this by asking medical professionals and confirming that chatbots on their own are not dangerous: it’s the ”combination effect”, so to speak. Like, matches and dynamites are great when used by pyrotechs but catastrophic in the hands of criminals.

I migrated @IceCubesApp to the new Xcode 15 string catalog, which is fantastic! Also, shoutout to everyone who's keeping translations up to date! The new format is all in one file and readable without Xcode. It's even better to edit without Xcode. It should make things easier on the repo.

@christianselig I really love licorice (sweet licorice, not very fond of the salty kind). This looks like lemon licorice 😉. On a more related note, I really want a third-gen pencil and hope it’s compatible with my M1 iPad Pro 11”, but seeing how Apple has not been backwards- or forward-compatible in the past, I don’t expect to be able to buy it.
