Our building got outfitted for full fibre broadband last month, but it wasn't being offered to us by BT. We phoned them, and to cut a long story short, there was a typo in our address in the system, so it didn't match the list of properties that were flagged for fibre…

Run your language models directly on your phone, courtesy of the ApacheTVM machine learning compiler:

My phone got warm, but it feels as if you were doing gpt4 on the cloud, except it is all local!

@Migueldeicaza It’s going to be interesting to see how much they can boost the Neural Processor’s performance on a yearly basis. My iPad Pro 11” has got 2 TB disk space, but it’s the M1 model. It’s really fast for multiple years to come … except for the NP which will look ”barely usable” five years from now.

Somewhere between January and today, Xcode ‘lost’ all the automatic provisioning profiles for Pastel for Mac (and only Mac), and even when recreated manually on the dev portal they just aren't picked up during the submission process so I now have to choose the manual signing option 👀 No certs expired, so I'm kinda baffled

@stroughtonsmith Party like it’s 2010, I guess 🧐. I mean, manual provisioning does work, but no one is excited about spending that extra time to set it up.

James wants to play shiny new Star Wars video game. Game has 150GB day one patch. James is sad.

@jamesthomson This is … an instant ”same here!” moment. I enjoy playing Forza Horizon games on my Xbox One S (2016). Latest FH 5 was something like 100 GB for the highest-tier game bundle/edition. That was not enough, though: of course, there can be a few extra gigs for in-game downloads afterwards, even 50 GB sometimes. Every patch update averages at 8 GB in size. What happened to the SEGA Mega Drive cartridge approach of the 90s? I mean … put in cartridge, power on. Play! 😎

This is music to my "Swift should be used for Game" ears:

@Migueldeicaza I think it’s amazing that it finally gets a clean slate with pure Swift. Note: I am really grateful for the Objective-C bridging, of course, seeing how I succeded with making a SwiftUI demo app where I called C++ code inside a Button view (thanks to a tutorial I found online) 😉

I made a PCalc shirt for WWDC, in honour of our allegedly forthcoming mixed reality future:

A zoomed out version of the PCalc WWDC shirt logo.

@jamesthomson The M symbol (medium size) looks very similar to the Swedish ”Magnum” ice cream brand. They are primarily known for their regular-shaped ice creams, but anyway: https://packnews.se/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2023/01/magnum-bagare-utvald.jpg

@jamesthomson Nice 🙂. Yeah, Unilever > Heartshaped brand > Magnum. That heart-shaped logo is recognised in multiple countries around the world, but the name is different depending on the market. In Sweden we call it GB Glace, but imagine calling it GB in … Great Britain 🤦‍♂️😂. So yes, you call it Wall’s, Americans call it Good Humor, Frigo in Spain, etc 😊

@jamesthomson It makes me question where new, original ice cream ideas come from these days. Some European or international Unilever HQ I suppose. However … I digress. The T-shirt design turned out great! 😎👍
