@jamesthomson Actually, the original review team for the Design Award are probably still in their offices, busy trying out your app. They had so much fun using it, they forgot to take off their Vision Pro devices and submit their award recommendation in time for the announcement 🙃
About by PCalc for Vision Pro is now in the hands of App Review, so we shall see what happens next!
Making screenshots for visionOS apps is tough, particularly for a fully immersive one like this. Getting the horizon completely level is certainly a challenge.
@jamesthomson Just get the non-existing ”VESA mount for Vision Pro” peripheral, use a screwdriver to attach your Vision Pro firmly to the mount in a very rigid kind of way, where the HMD/headset can’t move in any angle. Get your head inside the attached headset, take a screenshot, then let the screws loose. Easy … 🥹
@jamesthomson Also, I’m only getting more interested in trying out the app but seeing how I don’t even live in a city with an official first-party Apple retail store, it will be several years before I get to see anything in person, unless a friend of mine happen to buy a Vision Pro, or my employer purchases one or two.
@golgaloth Very nice list and graphics! While QuarkXpress is a real alternative, it lost a lot of its popularity 15 years ago. Maybe they are still big in some areas of the world, but I doubt it will rise to the top globally anytime soon 😊
@Migueldeicaza Holy crap! I too have been in the diamond league (in the midst of the pandemic, summertime). I was dethroned after the first week was over 😅. People there actually cared a LOT about staying in the top league. I didn’t have a chance 😂
There's a remarkable chance of viewing the northern lights in The Netherlands tonight. I'm setting up a camera to grab a timelapse of the night. Curious for its results :)
@jorijn It’s very weird, but: as someone who lives in the vicinity of Northern Lights, or ”close enough to the Arctic region but not in the capital of it”, I have been thoroughly disappointed for the lack of solar activity in the last 5 years or so. It has never been a breathtaking wowness, either, because I live in a city, but I miss seeing it in the winters 🤔.
Happy to hear you have potential to see it tonight! 🥳 Guess I’ll have to go visit Bergen in Norway or something … 😅
I'm so happy with my @IceCubesApp codebase. Adding inline posting within an AppIntent was actually five lines of code! Next is having inline account selection exposed as AppEntry!
@dimillian@IceCubesApp Regarding ”InlinePostIntent: AppIntent” and its description computed property, I don’t think it’s required for you to specify ”get” since you aren’t using ”set” below/above it. In case you want to shave off the code even more 😊
@jamesthomson Seems like you are lifting the dice using magnetism, sort of? This is not me being critical: rather, I’m fascinated by the physics and the interaction process. Also, very impressed by your 3D work and imagine it’s very rewarding to feel the code you have been working on for so long on the non-spatial platforms 🥹🥇
It's been an amazing journey since I started toot.community. However, due to personal commitments, I'm stepping down. The community deserves undivided attention, which I can't provide anymore. So, I'm handing the reins over to the reliable hands of the Fedihosting Foundation (https://fedihosting.foundation). I have confidence they'll keep treating you the way you deserve.
I'm grateful for the connections I made here, and I'd like to thank you all for your support and trust in me. It means a lot. ❤️
@jorijn Thank you for providing a secure, anti-spammed Mastodon instance with excellent uptime and for answering questions I’ve had in the past about the server and stuff! I’m a happy user of the Mastodon service ⭐️
Glad sommar, vrolijke zomer, have a great summer! Enjoy some quality time with loved ones and hope this experience with managing the instance will come in handy in future tech endeavours 🙂
