The revamp happened over several years, and changes were released (to our users) as they were ready. We now have concluded the effort and included the last bunch of structure changes in the 3.4 release.

We had someone potentially interested in developing it. The UX is pretty much ready, but we unfortunately dropped the ball. So it'll probably be a while until someone is willing to pick up this challenging project.

We provide stickers and eternal gratitude to contributors of all sorts. We don't give out monetary incentives as it makes things difficult (how to determine the amount, how to determine for which feature we set up a bounty, etc).
If you're willing to contribute as non-dev have a look here: https://antennapod.org/contribute/ Any contributor who stays around for a longer time is a great asset, and makes it more likely that features will get implemented (e.g. by freeing up time of core contributors)

@AntennaPod I'm using AntennaPod on Android 9 (a Samsung S8). Around May 17th I started having problems downloading / streaming one podcast with AntennaPod 3.3 (I will post the error message as a follow-up).

The error was not resolved by upgrading to v3.4.

The problem podcast is ARRL News (the link will be in my follow-up).

I am able to download / stream in Chrome on my S8.

We're sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately your social media volunteer is not a technical expert. If you indeed (as per the warnkng) don't have a VPN, ad blocker, proxy or something like that on your device, please create an issue/thread on GitHub or our forum, so more technical community members can help. Please make sure to include the RSS feed URL (not just the episode URL); you can copy it via the podcast screen, round ℹ️ icon and tapping on the URL.

The death date of is getting nearer, the implementation of podcasts in Youtube Music is surprisingly bad (I don't want them mixed with my music library, as they are completely different). So, what would be good alternative (preferable no extra login requirement) for podcasts in ? Something I can live with, until returning to iPhone and iTunes (not an option at the moment) at some point in the future.

Omdat Google Podcasts stopt zocht ik onderdak voor mijn 188 abonnementen. Daar had ik best wat voor willen betalen tot ik op Mastodon werd gewezen op @AntennaPod , een open source app voor Android en F-Droid. Omdat het platform gedecentraliseerd is, krijg je geen notificaties maar scant het je kanalen af wanneer je wilt. Dat duurt in mijn geval enkele minuten.
Antennepod leest RSS-feeds, dus kan de vervelende app #NPO Luister ook weg. https://antennapod.org/nl/

Listicles, you know; those quick win articles from publishers who just sum up a few options for task X based on a web search, adding a brief comment on each of the options. AntennaPod was (very) often overlooked. Probably because we weren't included in previous listicles. The quality of those articles isn't great, so we shouldn't take it as a sign of AntennaPod not being worth a mention. Stil, it stung a little. 1/2

Since @9to5google did some actual investigation into the options and did a proper review of AntennaPod, things seem different. Two weeks after, our app showed up in an article by Android Police (https://www.androidpolice.com/best-alternatives-to-youtube-podcasts) and three weeks later in one from Talk Android (https://www.talkandroid.com/452481-best-android-podcast-app). Seems the tide is turning! Who knows, maybe at some point we'll not even be described as 'the open source alternative' anymore! 2/2

If you're changing phones and are using AntennaPod on both devices, you'll probably want to ex- & import the database, rather than the OPML file. That way you'll keep all your listening history, playback status, etc, ans you'll only need to re-apply your settings.

That will probably be a while. The technical standard for making this possible through the fediverse are currently being discussed here: https://github.com/Podcastindex-org/podcast-namespace/discussions/623

When that's more or less settled, we can consider it, among all other much-requested features (e.g multiple queues, keep n newest episodes per podcast).

Is there an @AntennaPod kind of app for iOS? I love how they engage with Blind users. I tried the app on a friends phone and that app is just perfection from a screen reader POV! I know there is @castropodcasts but I hear they haven't put out accessibility updates, and, I honestly don't think Downcast and similar cut the mustard on iOS. #Podcast #Podcasts
