3 local #FirstNations within #Vancouver have officially endorsed Mayor Ken Sim’s plan to #abolish the elected body of the Park Board.
In an open letter dated March 1, addressed to the #GovernmentOfBritishColumbia, the #Musqueam Indian Band, #Squamish Nation, and #TsleilWaututh Nation (MST) have jointly expressed their support to eliminate the separately elected body that governs Vancouver’s parks and recreation system.
I have the option of taking #1 or #4 on the list to get to work 😅
Transit is actually pretty good in #Vancouver compared to a lot of North American cities. But yeah during busy times it can get pretty bad on those routes. Passed up by full bus after full bus, and so on. Skytrain extension that is currently under construction will be a big help. #vanpoli#PublicTransit https://www.cbc.ca/newsinteractives/features/translink-complaints-2023
[In photos of the space, prospective tenants can see that a mattress and box spring sit on the floor of an area that appears to be part of an unfinished basement off a laundry room. While it's described as "private" there are no doors visible in the photos.]
We really need more public washrooms especially downtown and along transit. Essentially no transit station in the entire metro network has an actually operating public bathroom except the seabus! Frankly it makes life miserable for the elderly, homeless, people with long transit commutes, workers on the road, etc.
Congratulations Nanaimo on banning natural gas in new homes. 💚
This is a huge step for climate action and indoor air quality.
The list of BC municipalities that have implemented similar bans also includes Saanich, Victoria, Whistler, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Squamish, and Port Coquitlam.
Good news! Not only is my account no longer negative but I have the $15 I needed to purchase my physical drivers license! As soon as it comes in the mail (or maybe I get a temp one) I'll try driving for the first time since 2017!
On the ropes but I'm not throwing in the towel! Please donate to my paypal or gofundme, and read about what I'm going through trying to secure housing as a poor Black woman with mental illnesses. I would appreciate it
Donations at a crawl but I’m only halfway to what I desperately need, and only a quarter of the way to my overall goal. I’m begging anyone who sees this just to at least take the time to read my story and consider sharing
Nothing has changed for the better for me. In fact, I've had to take out $600 in payday loans to cover debt, food, and dental. I can't do this alone and I have until early December at best.
Great news for Toronto, Olivia Chow seems to have won. Looks like Toronto will now have a much more progressive mayor than Vancouver, something that hasn't happened in a long while. Good for Toronto! #vanpoli#torpoli
