There's a company that could save an enormous amount of lives and suffering – just by reducing by a tiny bit their revenue of 24 Billion USD a year!

#Danaher makes an incredible test for #tuberculosis and other terrible diseases, which gives people a chance to survive and thrive after infection. But they mark them up by 200-400 %! Making it impossible for most people who actually need them to get them!

#MSF is calling on Danaher to reduce the price. Sign here: https://timefor5.msfaccess.org/

Today In Labor History March 26, 1850: Edward Bellamy was born. Bellamy was an American author and socialist political activist, most well-known for his utopian novel, “Looking Backward,” one of the most commercially successful books published in the 19th century. It particularly appealed to the intellectuals who were alienated by the Gilded Age greed, corruption and violence. His book inspired many to form so-called “nationalist clubs” to implement his ideas of a society free of private property, social classes, war, poverty, crime, lawyers, politicians, prostitution, merchants, soldiers, and taxes. Plus, everyone could retire by the age of 45. He died at the age of 48 from tuberculosis.

March 25, 2024- 🤔 LA Times:“The number of tuberculosis cases in 2023 rose by 15% in California compared to the previous year, the state Department of Public Health said. That’s the highest year-over-year increase since 1989, when it was tied to people co-infected with HIV. “ - https://archive.md/2024.03.25-183813/https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-03-25/tuberculosis-cases-are-rising-in-california-and-the-state-is-sounding-an-alarm

@Brad This rise in cases could very well be related to the now fairly well documented weakening of immune systems from surviving a infection.

Tuberculosis cases rising in California, and state officials are sounding the alarm https://archive.md/2024.03.25-183813/https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-03-25/tuberculosis-cases-are-rising-in-california-and-the-state-is-sounding-an-alarm

“Then something happens. Either they age ... and their immune system actually becomes weaker ... and then they progress” to acute TB, Higashi said.

"they cannot make decisions that would harm the shareholders even when that would benefit the entirety of humanity...talking to other shareholders about how they're profiting off of price-gouging the wolrd's poorest people and those who serve them....The only way to get them to do the right thing is reputational harm"
