In a few days, I'll go from Strasbourg to #Luxembourg City by #train.
For the first part of the travel (Strasbourg — Metz), I'll have, as usual, an e-ticket on my (official SNCF) app. But for the second part (Metz — Luxembourg), I'll have to use a code I received to print (in a train station only, I can't do it at home) the ticket. As Luxembourgian trains are free (yeah 🇱🇺🇱🇺) I fail to understand why I can't have a “normal” ticket.

Must be my week for unexpectedly encountering luxury trains at Verona Station. While I was waiting for my train to Bologna, the Golden Eagle Danube Express pulled in at the next platform. Which surprised me a bit, because AFAIK it's owned by a Russian company.
Look what I found on the adjacent platform at Verona Porto Nuova Station, after I returned from Venice yesterday!
I stepped over and asked a staff member what was going on, and he explained that the train was being repositioned. No customers on board, hence the staff wearing casual clothing.

The Wengernalp Bahn (WAB) is an 800mm gauge 1500V DC Strub/Riggenbach rack railway in the Bernese Oberland. Running for 19km from Lauterbrunnen to Grindelwald via Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg, it is the world's longest continuous rack and pinion railway. At Kleine Scheidegg, trains connect with the Jungfraubahn to the highest railway station in Europe at Jungfraujoch.

2023.06.29 Update
I’ve decided to put travels that happened mostly within an city with city transportation (bus, metro, tram, etc.) as part of the same trip into one post! If such a thing is documented, then my description of what happened on that trip will occur in that post, not the post about the way back as was the case previously.
My journey to the BUNDjugend Oldenburg local group which I am a member of. We talked about the upcoming CSD, other events organized by Greenpeace, and our own plans / events! My biggest talking point was the bog pump we’re planning to implement and collect funds for - a bog ranger (Christian Starkloff) told me this would be highly beneficial for his bog in Emsland.

On my way to Hannover to catch a connecting train to Dresden then Zittau, Czechia where the Pfingstcamp will occur! Very excited for this, going with my best friends and packed my stuff for the whole last week (jk, did everything last minute on yesterday’s evening and today’s morning).

Caught all trains (and busses)! Writing this afterwards as the train rides were wild. It was a challenge finding our seats, despite being reserved the train compartments starting from Hannover were in a way different order so we had trouble finding our seats.
Once we arrived in Dresden we saw an ad for a ridiculous book which we posed in front of to take pictures. We looked up the Wikipedia article of the guy who wrote it, turns out he suggests voting for the Nazi party, makes sense considering the dumbness of his book. I won’t give him publicity, but it was seriously funny.
Once we arrived in Zittau we found our shuttle and drove to the Pfingstcamp in the midst of night. We got our keys there and somehow walked to our bungalow in the weirdest way (I remember walking through sand, bushes, inbetween other bungalows and tents), despite there being a direct path which we saw the next day once the sun was out. Will say more about my experience there on the train post about my way back!
Coming back from the Pfingstcamp in Czechia, it was a blast! My face was painted on (also I learned what Mascara and Concealer is and may begin using it???), I hosted a pirate radio, wandered through mountains, was on more concerts than I’ve ever been, learned intense political theory, did graffiti for the first time in my life and made many MANY friends. It’s a long trip back but WORTH it! Currently, as I am writing this, I am on the IC 2032 from Hannover Hbf to Emden, which I had to take because a train was canceled, I needed to take one later, hence I couldn’t take one that’d take me to Norden. Needed to ask my dad to pick me up from Emden, as that’s as far as I could get, so, as you can see, it was already a long day and tomorrow will be even more intense.
I will arrive home TOMORROW and tomorrow is also the day I am invited at the EU parliament. I still haven’t even read the E-Mail I got about anything there, like what I am supposed to wear, in what context and to whom I will be speaking, etc. I will just have to wing it, as always. Still, going from one life changing event like this to the next truly is something.
Back to the camp, it was just incredible and I have never felt more at peace, home, and happy than in any other place! Will come back and urge everyone else to have a visit to the successor of eastern Germany’s pioneer camps!
Going to a parliamentarian breakfast inside of the EU parliament organized by the BUNDjugend! Very excited to meet some parliamentarians within an institution that I could see myself work in some day! My initial train ride was canceled, so this morning was a bit chaotic as I tried to find a new connection. I arrived home today at 00:30 AM and left the house again at ~09:30, so I was only home for 9 hours and am now back on my shenanigans! They canceled my initial train at like 8:30, considering my train was supposed to leave at 10:07 I was quite worried whether I’d make it to Bruxelles today, gladly I’ll make it!
Very excited! Will let the Fedi know about everything that happens.

We did make it, but sadly my train to Köln needed to arrive on the same platform as my departing ICE to Brussels, hence I couldn’t make it.
Luckily, my friends from the BUNDjugend were stranded too and knew what to do. Apparently the next train needed a seat reservation to travel on, so we went to a DB help desk, got a ticket, were called to an employee and got the last THREE reservations for that train. From that point on we got another 1.5h to do something in the city of Köln, so we went and ate vegan food at an Indian restaurant.
Sooner than later the train left, we got on, there were astonishingly many seats empty (like it was 98% capacity, but not 100%) so even our friend who didn’t get a seat reservation ticket could travel with us.
We arrived in Brussels-Nord, went to Brussels-Central, then I got flashback from my trip through Europe last year because it was the same place, and interestingly the path to our hotel was the same as the path to the Meiningen Hostel we stayed in last year for the trip, so I knew the place. I even knew the supermarket (CarreFour) that was in front of our hotel. We arrived, ate the self-made vegan food, I talked to so many people I didn’t know and also few I knew from previous BUND events, then we discussed what would happen the next morning:
We needed to leave the house by 7:00 AM to arrive at the EU parliament at the right time for checks, so that our parliamentarian breakfast with Greens/EFA MEP Anna Cavazzini could begin St 08:00 to 09:00. Afterwards we’d go to the Parliamentarium, an EU Museum/Circlejerk, then we’d meet climate activists from Belgium and so on and so forth. The things we were told we’d do the next day were part of a long list that I, at the moment, couldn’t remember, as I was so so tired from this long day of travel (which, in case you forgot, was preceded by an even longer day of travel) which is why I needed to go to bed instantly.

You must remember, at this moment in time, from the last 30 hours I had been on a train/train station for 22 hours. I was tired and done, so I went to bed, only to get up at 06:20 the day after.
