The release was migrated to the latest Lazarus version to benefit from bug fixes.
Every few months, I come back to rewriting a #todo app in #aspnetcore, sometimes it's with Blazor, sometimes it's Razor Pages, and this time with #Htmx (although I may have already done HTMX 😅)
I got some quality-of-life improvement issues entered to help make #JetBrainsRider better, too. So that's a win!
I try now #Logseq and this is #OpenSource and I would like to like it but somewhere I can't manage to understand and use it. I don't just want to write down my thoughts and #ideas, I also want to be able to check off a #todo list… 😐
"Start small. Don't try to build a system overnight. Doing so will make both adopting the tool harder and take you down a rabbithole of customisations you don't need."
I'm looking for a #todo application (preferrably through a website) in which I can add items to do and add relationships between the items: what needs to happen before something else can happen, etc. Ideally this would have a graphical interface so we can drag stuff around, colour-code it etc.
There are so many to-do apps (and it seems to be a favourite coding example too) that extensive searching has not turned up anything.
Please tell me about your favourite app that does this!
A few years ago, classic TV comedy MASH, was remastered and released on streaming platforms. The picture quality was massively increased with just one minor flaw. They cropped the image to 16:9 widescreen 😱
The thing about widescreen is that it chops off the top and bottom of the picture. The top of Hawkeye's head? Gone! The bottom of Hot-Lips' boots? Vanished!
But, there is an upside. Or should that be side-side? Anyway, the new remaster adds some previous unseen detail to the left and right of the picture.
As you can see, the remaster has great picture quality and bonus content at the sides. However, you might also be able to notice that the widescreen image has been stretched a fair bit. By my calculation it was originally a 1.72 aspect ratio before been distorted to 1.777.
This GIF makes it a bit more obvious what has been stretched and how the image has moved from the centre:
So, is it possible to take the sides of the widescreen version and stitch them on to the edges of the 4:3 version? Yes!
With a bit of ffmpeg magic, I scaled the 16:9 version back to its original ratio, then I added some black padding around it, then I overlaid the 4:3 on top - giving it some transparency so you can see how well it fits.
That also shifts the first video by a couple of frames due to the files being slightly out of synch. I've also kept both soundtracks, for your discordant joy.
Here it is - the intro to MAS*H with extra side bits:
As you can see, they adjusted the font size of the main titles. As the video progresses, you'll notice the vertical offset changes - I don't know how much manual adjustment was made. The videos shift in and out of synchronisation - I assume the original was transferred from film to tape in a less precise process than the remaster.
Again, to re-emphasise what it says in the README - this is not suitable for production use. This is primarily a way to explain all the different functions of an ActivityPub server. It is adequately commented and I hope a moderately competent programmer could follow what's going on. It is almost certainly insecure and is considered harmful to aquatic life.
I would be delighted if you took the code and did something interesting with it. Perhaps create a single-file server in your favourite language?
I really would like to use simple no-bullshit tools that do their job effectively. Best examples are #todo applications. I've used #Wunderlist, which allowed me to change background (why?), but hat problems with synchronizing. Currently I am using #Todoist, which comes with lots of additional stuff I don't like, for example a productivity feature or "intelligent" text recognition instead of just a date picker.
With Superlist, Wunderlist Makers Pick Up Where They Left Off
Remember Wunderlist? It was a highly popular and well-made cloud-based to-do/task app that was free to use on all major mobile and desktop platforms, including Linux, until Microsoft acquired it and eventually shut it down.
Nyilvánvalóan én is keresem a számomra legjobb alternatívát, a hatékonyság fontos szempont.
