Excited to share this brand new #batman#art with you! Since 1989 watching it at the cinema, my enthusiasm for #timburton's iconic telling of The Dark Knight's story has never diminished! I really wanted to capture the essence of this classic film! Visit #StarsCarsEvents#BoltonArena THIS SUNDAY where I will be displaying a very special Artist's Proof of this #batman89 piece! After the event it will be auctioned, with all proceeds going to #DerianHouse Children's Hospice.
New trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has dropped and let me tell you...it tells me nothing, except that the cast is back and that Michael Keaton is going to be so much fun as Beetlejuice again.
Tim Burton is currently attached to direct a reimagining of the 1950s kitsch classic "Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman" from a screenplay written by Gillian Flynn, author of "Gone Girl" and "Sharp Objects". Burton will also produce. #TimBurton#GillianFlynn#AttackOfTheFiftyFootWoman#Movies
Watched Batman Returns. I knew it was a #timburton movie but this felt so much weirder and less conjoined than the first #batman. I still enjoyed it for what it was, but it was mostly for Devito just being amazing at being weird, and less for the plot or characters.
Largely, rewatching these 90s Batman movies has made me want to see Adam West again because I have such fond memories of his Batman.
From Halloween until Christmas is, officially, The Nightmare Before Christmas Season! So, let's talk abut the official manga adaptation.
Do you already like the movie a lot and are super familiar with the plot? If so, this is a welcome addition to any collection you may have for that series. If you are not, watch the movie first. While the art is great and fitting for the series, the pacing is okay but moves a bit too quick through certain plot points that without some baseline familiarity with the material a person may get lost.
That said, I've seen the movie likely a hundred times at this point in my life. So, I enjoyed it!
Have you read the manga adaptation? Or have you seen any of the spinoff manga?
Being a wuss sucks today. I wish I could handle more, especially since horror often has an aesthetic I really appreciate. But I'm very aware of how horrific images seep into our subconscious and affect us in subtle ways. (There are some scenes in 'Seven' I still wish I could unsee, I was traumatised for weeks at the time. 😰)
I've seen all the Tim Burton films a million times, but something in this style would be nice. Harmless but not trashy.
I'm particularly excited about this release as it marks the end of a long silence. Due to a chronic illness (ME/CFS/long COVID) I wasn't able to sing and play piano for two and a half years, let alone write, record and release music. Don't ask me why - and please don't judge me - but I'm almost inexplicably a Burtonverse Batman nerd (ever since seeing Batman in 1989 as a 12 year old).
Having listened to podcasts and watched videos over recent years I've realised I have a ridiculous amount of knowledge on this subject that I've taken for granted. So I'm thinking of running an info tidbit n scrapbook account on the Fediverse to share what I've learned over the years. (Always loved the About Faces Livejournal blog that covered Two-Face!)
I think Mastodon would be good for this. But which instance? Help!
