Wie es sich gehört, finden sich auf der Internetseite auch die vorherigen Infos, so daß sich ein guter Eindruck über die kompakten Infos gewinnen lässt.
I was wondering why @signalapp is not @fdroidorg . I searched their Github issues and realized it has been asked multiple times and every time it came up, the Signal devs closed it without providing any reason. The most recent one being:
There is no explanation anywhere explaining why, and quite honestly it is getting frustrating digging basic and simple information off of Signal folks and websites!
If I read this right, @signalapp, @torproject, and other well-known #privacy-centric communications systems were largely funded by and aligned with Western covert #intelligence agencies, for the purpose of aiding dissidents of enemy governments while centralizing secret traffic onto networks the intelligence community could subvert.
Only now they’re unhappy that Western citizens use them and so have pulled #SignalApp’s funding.
Just a heads-up to all fellow @signalapp users: there is a high chance that the messages you send or the messages others send to you don't get delivered. Previously it was an issue with iOS recipients, but now it also is happening to Android users. When you open the Signal app you will see multiple notifications but their sent time is from minutes or an hour ago (depends on how frequently you open the app). If you have an important message, don't reply on Signal.
Have you switched to a proper end-to-end encrypted messenger app yet?

Try @threemaapp or @session and let anyone out there using Telegram or Meta (Facebook) Messenger or WhatsApp or iMessage/SMS know that there are better options available now.

@kuketzblog Entsprechend für Signal. Überlegt mal, wie viel Ihr jeden Monat für Euer Handy ausgebt, und wie relevant der Signal Messenger für den Nutzen Eures Handys ist. Das sollte schon ein paar Euro im Monat wert sein.

I'm interested in ways people are handling #signal backups in terms of getting them off your phone in case you #android phone breaks or you lose it.
I have been using daily scheduled #termux#rsync scripts to own server, which I also use for other purposes. For photos and videos, the benefit is not needing Big Tech cloud surveillance and also preserving original image quality by nothing having arbitrary space constraints.
But there is a slight problem of the Signal backups being 700MB each. not a huge problem in #Finland - the country with unlimited mobile data. The 700MB will not get any smaller though, so I wonder about really long term solution in case Signal itself does not implement more controls to how and what is backed up.

Digging a little bit in the some ICC profiles added in signal-app, I updated the original issue and there is clearly an issue where new ICC profiles are created from the Google skia library.
This issue only appears when the media-quality is to high. Maybe an allow-list strategy like the mat2 tool written by @jvoisin would be better to be sure that new metadata created are discarded by default.
Seit ein paar Tagen/Wochen folgendes Verhalten bei #SignalApp unter Android:
Ich swipe die Notification-Liste runter und tippe auf ne Notification für eine Nachricht. Es dauert ca. ne Sekunde, bis sich Signal öffnet. In der Zeit bleibt die Notification-Liste offen. Was mich üblicherweise verwirrt, weil ich denke, dass mein Tap nicht registriert wurde und deshalb nochmal tappe.
Das war früher nicht so. Ist auch nur Signal, bei dem das Problem auftritt. Gibt's bei euch ähnliche Erfahrungen?
