It wasn't the fact that there was a limit to see 1000 comments but what they were. The vast majority of my 12 years on Reddit I spent talking about dungeon and dragons 5th edition (DnD 5e) which I started playing early in is lifestyle. @arstechnica you folks at Ars Technica have been doing an awesome job of following the #RedditMigration and subsequent rise in popularity of the #Fediverse . Sincerely, thank you. It has been nice to follow along.
I just want to say for my first post to the #Fediverse that I've already seen more #alttext in the last couple of days than I've literally seen in my entire life. I don't know what it is, but as a blind user it's making me emotional to be able to actually interact with content. Think I'll write an introduction soon. #accessibility#Mastodon#redditMigration
I moved from #reddit over to #lemmy last week... Much like I said here when I first got this account... it very much feels like the early internet.
Know what else it made me realize?
Redditors are fucking ASSHOLES.
I think I shall stay here and Lemmy, where true conversations can be had as opposed to snarky responses to... literally everything... for no good goddamn reason.
Mastodon instances admins are going through a very challenging time right now.
They have difficult, often heartbreaking, decisions to make 💔
They have a lot of changes to managed :blob_dizzy_face:
They have large influx in traffic to deal with :blobastonished:
And they have to deal with all of our comments and strong opinions about this :oh_no:
Be Kind with instance administrators and moderation teams. Even when you do not agree with their choices. You can state your opinion, but always remain polite and empathetic.
This is volunteer work!
They all deserve our kindness 💚
@syncforlemmy post, for anyone who's attempting to patiently wait for the release of a truly solid app for Lemmy. I'm not a writer, so forgive the missed opportunities & novice grammatical errors. #fediverse#redditMigration#syncforlemmy
raddle.me/f/touhou, the only very active link aggregator alternative to r/touhou
Hey you. Yes you, Touhou fan. Tired of r/touhou's too restrictive rules? Want a very active general 2hu forum that's hosted on a #reddit alternative with an explicit strong anti-bigotry stance? Then why not hang out and chill at #Raddle's f/touhou? We've recently reached 100 subscribers and 520 submissions! :D
After starting with #Lemmy a few weeks ago due to the #redditmigration decided to try out this whole fediverse thing. Very cool concept, glad to be on board
"How Reddit crushed the biggest protest in its history - The Verge"
Meanwhile #RedditMigration is still happening and there are more groups added to the #Fediverse by the day. #Malaysia even has a #Lemmy instance & members are really happy to be there. i suspect this is repeated everywhere in the Fediverse right now.
Honestly, I suspected they would never change the #Reddit CEO's mind.
But they sure made themselves heard on the way out 😏
For anyone mourning the loss of Apollo, I can't say enough about how great @wefwef feels as a lemmy alternative. Especially as a web application its very well done.
Just submitted a draft PR for importing your subs from Reddit -- if you're interested in migrating request an export of all your data here (takes a few weeks) https://www.reddit.com/settings/data-request
The #redditblackout has moved to a new stage... from a two day blackout to indefinitely shutting down... to people moving away entirely.
Yes, r/startrek has lifted off from #reddit and moved to #lemmy -- and with it, a realization that we need an easy way to help people find their new, old communities that have moved from reddit to #lemmy#kbin and whatever else pops up.
I started a quick and dirty list that you can share and contribute to (PRs welcome!).
Hope everyone in the #usa had a great holiday weekend! We're back to the races on the #redditMigration with some more huge communities announcing landing spots for people migrating from #reddit.
Deleting my Reddit comments was a strange experience.
