I was at someone's house today and there was no way to set the thermostat because the internet connectivity was down.
This is the kind of crap that radicalizes you.
The thermostat was put there by the builder.
Addendum for further explanation: I was there for something work-related, and the house is vacant for the moment. You're supposed to connect the thermostat to their app, but I couldn't get the app to see the dumb thing, even after joining its own hotspot.
Really unnecessarily confusing.
It lets you sync to many types of smartwatches directly, without giving any data to the data pimps. At most, you have to do an initial sync with the corporate app, and then gadgetbridge takes over from there.
No fitbits unfortunately, but many huami and xiaomi devices, which can be had for pretty cheap. Also a couple fully open source ones like the #PineTime
With everything going on in the world, I take joy from the small things. Today, that happens to be controlling GNOME podcasts on pmOS with my PineTime. Amazing work devs!
Seriously though, is there such a thing as a Linux developer appreciation day?
We need #openhardware with #bluetooth so we can link them it to #MyGNUHealth.
Currently we have @pine64eu smartwatch, but we'd love to integrate scales, glucometers, blood pressure monitors...
Just reply to this toot or send us a message if you know of any device. We'd love to test them!🤗 #GNU#GNUHealth#pinephone#PineTime
Magic is the Open Source community! Some time ago, I began implementing the find-my-phone feature for #PineTime. However, I got stuck on debugging because I didn't have the devkit, only the sealed version. Fortunately, I received the #devkit for free. Even more fortunate, someone debugged my code and fixed it.
Very happy with my new #PineTime#smartwatch. Shown in the photo is my preferred watch face style out of the default available options, a retro Casio face. Thank you to @PINE64 and the wider open hardware and software community! I'm going to test out the sleep tracking tonight while connected to #Gadgetbridge and upgrade the firmware as soon as I get a chance.

I bought a #PineTime because it's #OpenSource and it respects my #privacy by keeping my private information on my phone rather than sending it to the cloud to be abused by marketers and heaven knows who else.
I like it as far as it goes, but it's pretty basic. I wish there were a much more full-featured #SmartWatch that was open source and respected my privacy.
The main reason I wear it is to count footsteps. The actual numbers don't matter at all: the watch is really just a reminder to get off my backside and keep active.
I got a #PineTime! (yes of course I got the dev version that doesn't snap together in order to allow access to the debug port, so it requires rubber bands to wear 😅)
I have been using a #PineTime for about a couple of years now and I love it. My partner is in need of a heart monitor as part of her ongoing quest to manage her very #MECFS -like #LongCovid symptoms, but I'm not convinced the heart monitor on such a smartwatch as I have would provide the accuracy she needs. Anyone aware of any (privacy-respecting #FOSS) heart monitors that also offer reliable accuracy? Have I got it wrong and in fact the PineTime would do the job just fine? #AskFedi
I had full room on my #FOSDEM talk about #PineTime. The recordings should be available soon (they gave it to me for review already yesterday. wow!). I have added my slide notes into pretalx.
Attending #FOSDEM via old laptop repurposed for webdev-device with #alpinelinux on it. Tooting this with #SailfishOS from Finland with a #pinetime on my left wrist. For the breaks I plan to reinstall #postmarketOS or #Mobian to my old oneplus6, doesn't really matter, really just want go try #phosh in action. Damn, linux ftw! What a brilliant thing you have brought to the world @torvalds ! Thank you for your great efforts! In case it was unclear, I'll be attending mobile. :D
I had ordered a #PineTime late october from the Pine 64 website. It came in France mid-November. I paid taxes online (I first checked if it was the real website of laposte). But never received it. Both local carrier (#LaPoste) and Pine Microsystems advise me to check with the other one...
Any advice? :shibacry:
