@AAKL Unfortunately their government customers keep them flush with cash. Their fellow commercial spyware vendors Cytrox and Intellexa are also blacklisted by the United States but continue kicking. Amnesty International and European Investigative Collaborations (EIC) released a joint report on "Predator Files" on 05 October 2023 detailing the pervasiveness of surveillance industry and and how ineffective EU regulation has been in controlling it. Believing that #spyware and other invasive tools will only be used by the "good" guys against the "bad" guys is illusionary.
Technology which is made available will be abused. So it must be the duty of every lawful government to have #security problems fixed, in the name of #democracy.
Three #NSO updates in one month, though once again, this is just for the Expansion Pass. This time, it's Genesis games. No need for the Mini 1 or 2 to play these:
Crusader of Centy - Considered to be Sega's answer to Link to the Past. A good one.
Ghouls ‘n Ghosts - A good port of the arcade game.
Landstalker - An isometric action RPG.
The Revenge of Shinobi - Kickass ninja platformer with a kickass soundtrack and what used to be lots of copyright infringement.
🕵️ NSO Spyware Used in Armenia-Azerbaijan Conflict
➥ @slashdot
"The spyware, called Pegasus and made by the Israeli company NSO, had previously been found on the phones of thousands of people around the world, leading to U.S. sanctions in 2021 and a lawsuit from Apple. But researchers said their most recent findings are unique -- they believe it is the first time that the technology has been weaponized in an armed conflict between countries."
「 From a “purely technical point of view,” Sandvik found Pegasus “fascinating.” Here was malware that could hack into someone’s device without their knowledge, finding ways to leverage already installed apps and bugs in the Apple and Android operating systems. “I’d always thought something like Pegasus was within the realm of possibility,” she said. But how NSO Group made it work was like nothing she’d ever seen 」
