Layers of Fear 2023 Works Beautifully on the Steam Deck (40 FPS at 7W with Medium Settings, using Proton Experimental) on SteamOS - and I am very much enjoying it so far. #layersoffear#steamdeck#linuxgaming#steamos#proton
DOSBox Staging Basics
Today: Emulation of parallel port DAC models
Those familiar with DOSBox know that these three devices are emulated with the universal 'disney=true' setting.
Like 'sbtype', we wanted the model of LPT DAC to be configurable, so we deprecated the 'disney' setting in favour of 'lpt_dac' that takes any of the following:
'disney' for the Disney Sound Source
'covox' for the Covox Speech Thing
'ston1' for the Stereo-on-1 DAC device
'none' to disable the DAC (default)
This is paired with a corresponding filter setting, 'lpt_dac_filter', which approximates how the original device sounded.
This means that the Disney Sound Source (which included a little speaker inside it) will sound a lot like you might remember.
I am very bad at #Linux. Installing, setting up my audio mixer, troubleshooting sound, and getting Guild Wars 2 up and running took about five hours. Still have a lot to learn but I'm extremely happy with the result so far.
Went with #Fedora#Nobara at the recommendation of a friend. It was fairly painless :D
@bass awesome! Guild Wars 2 seems to be running surprisingly well with Linux. My partner has been playing it on their Linux machine for years with pretty much no issues. :) #linuxgaming isn’t what others (cough :windowsflag:) want to make it seem like.
