Successfully updated my backup phone (Pixel 3a) to #LineageOS 21. While I dont have the patience to root&rom my regular phone these days, it's fun to dip my toe back in for non mission-critical devices
A rising number of #Android apps refuse to run on devices with unlocked bootloaders, locking out not only root but also #CustomROM (e.g. #LineageOs) users.
This is not only unfair, but also unnecessary, as it does not really improve security.
We need to tell the responsible Companies that this is stupid. Please Leave #PlayStore reviews, send emails, post on social media or whateverseems to be sensefull, when stumbling over such an app.
I'm thinking about migrating my #Pixel#Android to #LineageOS because #OpenSource, but am concerned that some apps - like banking #DKB, my health insurance #Generali and maybe others - may refuse to work due to issues with Device Integrity and/or detected root.
Is there some way of analyzing my device and apps prior to installing LineageOS to see which apps would be problematic?

à mon grand regret, il va falloir que j’achète un smartphone……
Autant vous dire que ça ne me réjouis pas du tout et que ça me gonfle déjà.
J’étais partie sur un google pixel parce que c’est compatible avec #LineageOS et que ça fait des belles photos (j’en ai besoin pour faire des belles photos). Mais mon frère qui a le même tel m’a expliqué que les belles photos c’était pas lié au téléphone en lui même mais à l’IA de google, et que du coup les photos du pixel avec lineage, c’était peut être de la grosse bouse.
Donc j’ai besoin d’aide pour savoir comment comparer les différents téléphones compatibles avec lineage, selon la qualité des photos sous lineageOS…
Parce qu’avec les comparateurs "officiels" de téléphone, bien évidemment le comparatif est réalisé avec le système d’exploitation d’origine.
Est ce qu’il y a parmi vous des fanas du #libre et bidouilleur·ses de téléphones qui peuvent m’aiguiller sur des ressources communautaires de comparatifs de tel éligibles à des systèmes libres?

Agnès Crepet and Luca Weiss talk about open source for #Fairphone now. Support for the proprietary chipsets from Qualcomm in Fairphone is end-of-life after a few years. Then Fairphone has to take over, for a longer support.
Fortunately, they support #opensource software like #lineageOS and #PostmarketOS. Also, better support in #Linux for using new kernel versions - though not feature complete yet. #TWRP builds for Fairphone available, plus support for many ROMs.
After patching Context to include EPD_SERVICE and calling an instance of this, and adding this snippet to SystemServiceRegistry, we should have an app-aware service to control Hisense A9 eink screen 💪️

Le monde des smartphones #Android est de plus en plus fermé et pourri.
Android supprime les commandes "adb backup" et "adb restore" qui permettaient de sauvegarder ses données sans passer par Google.
Les seules autres applis de backup demandent d'avoir un téléphone rooté, ce qui est de plus en plus difficile.
Les téléphones éligibles à #LineageOS avec une batterie amovible sont déjà peu nombreux, mais en plus les LG ne peuvent plus être débloqués car ils ont fermé leur site.
Is there a website that lists all phones and all AOSP/ROMs that are compatible with them, so you don't have to hunt around in the wikis of every single ROM to check if it's compatible with your phone?
Installing latest attempt. I had placed the same package name for both the service and client of EpdManager so Android was confused on what to use. Is this it now? #hisense#a9#eink#lineageos
Bin gerade am Überlegen ob ich mein jüngstes #Smartphone (#Oneplus 8) auch mit #LineageOS bestücken soll. Leider habe ich keine andere Wahl ein alternatives #CustomROM außer LineageOS zu installieren, da zb #GrapheneOS oder #CalyxOS das Gerät nicht unterstützen. Der momentane Zustand mit dem hauseigenen Betriebssystem #OxygenOS von Oneplus ist nicht mehr tragbar. Viele nutzlose (Spy)Apps von Oneplus lassen sich nicht deinstallieren, einige wenige nur deaktivieren. Sehr unbefriedigend das ganze.
Update on Hisense A9 LineageOS GSI build: I had to patch SystemServer under com.android.server so that the service would start on boot, and add a missing <service> to the AndroidManifest.xml. It's now compiling again. If this works, as the service starts it automatically sets the screen refresh to balanced mode so I should see the boot animation now!
Ich überlegte, mir ein #OnePlus9 zuzulegen. Kamera ok, genug Speicher und #lineageos läuft auch drauf. Wäre eine Anschaffung für ein knappes Jahrzehnt.
Etwas überrascht mich der Hinweis, dass man wegen Sicherheit nur das originale Ladegerät und Kabel zum Aufladen nutzen soll. Warum? Ich dachte, der Sinn von #usb ist, nicht mehr so viele Kabel zu brauchen?
Kennt jemand diese Hinweise? Ist das üblich? Gibt es da einen Grund für?
#divestOS - I had a oneplus Nord telephone and divestOS was the only form of #android that strived to maintain security updates for it (the manufacturer's oxygen OS and the degoogled LineageOS both having deprecated the versions of their OS that RNA on that phone), so it became my daily driver. Since then I've only purchased phones that are supported by divestOS. I don't think I could be persuaded to return to regular android.
The dev who spearheads it also has some terribly useful apps on their f-droid repository
