Evening Grasses in the Sun
We don’t always need the glory of a sunset or sunrise, or the majestic landscape of mountains to thrill and excite us. Sometimes, we need the still, calm peace that the sight of a patch of wild grasses, surrounded by simple wild flowers in the sun brings. Cut out the #bamboo by taking the lower leaves off and took out some stems. Looks a bit radical but may have the desired effect of letting more light through.

In the center is one tiny purple bloom.
It's an amazing edible #insectattractor, but like several other favorites of mine it's classified by our joyless local agri-bureaucrats as a noxious invasive weed 🙄
I embellished this cyanotype of wildflowers and grasses on watercolour paper with a deckle edge with my linocut prints of moths on Japanese washi paper. The moths are all found here in Ontario: the yellow and purplish-pink Imperial moth (Eacles imperialis), the red-orange, black and cream Virgin Tiger Moth (Apantesis virgo), and the black and white White Underwing (Catocala relicta).
