Okay, so until the AT and ActivityPub protocols are interoperable, how can we set up crossposters? I've never done anything like that before. Is that something #Glitch would be good for?
There's an alternative version of Mastodon called "Mastodon Glitch Edition" (aka "glitch-soc" or just "Glitch"). Glitch is totally compatible with normal Mastodon, but adds experimental new features.
For example, Glitch instances let the admin alter the character limit, allow local posting, text formatting and lots of other stuff.
Many features in Glitch have eventually made their way into normal Mastodon after proving themselves stable and useful.
If you run your own Mastodon instance you can switch to Glitch, and switch back again if you don't like it.
(You may be wondering how this post is so long? It's because FediTips is on an instance that uses Glitch, and the instance character limit has been extended to 1000.)
Lovers of horror soundtracks, both real and imagined, may find much to keep themselves awake at night, staring at the moon, inside or outside, in these here glitch-filled sounds and such
Has anyone had any experience moving from mastodon/mastodon to glitch-soc/mastodon? I'm looking to do this as they document changes better, and the tweaks they have made allow for me to keep my instance up-to-date with my own tweaks and customization.
It looks straightforward, but since I have modified mastodon/mastodon, I want to be sure I move and make the same changes to my glitch-soc/mastodon fork as well.
It's been seven years since I joined @glitchdotcom and used it to write tutorials and host some of my projects! 🎉
I've been a huge fan of the work their team has done over the years and I've spoken about my own work on their blog in 2017, and again earlier this year:
OK, my #FairCamp site is live. As most of my existing music is CC BY-SA, full-quality downloads have mostly been inflicted on Archive.org already, but you can at least stream everything and there are links to #Archive and #BandCamp.
Has anyone who is using an M3 and/or macOS Sonoma seen this artifact before? I recognize it for the second time now. It is gone after a restart, but still.
I would like to know what that is and what causes it.
Update: Opening Displays in System Settings and changing the resolution once fixes it. Could be an OS problem?
So, last Thursday #recurse center had an "Impossible Projects Day." I tried to write a useful-for-procedural-generation SAT solver (in particular, a reimplementation of Ian Horswill's #CatSAT).
Didn't finish it on Thursday but was surprised by the amount of progress I managed! Got a little obsessed, published my library BatSAT on NPM, and then used it to do today's #mathober Day 9 prompt, "Hierarchy", on #glitch.
Since yesterday, I noticed a quirk when clicking on "Boost" or "More!' in timeline view: It brings me to the top of the timeline page instead of opening up the regular respective options. If I click on the post in question to the more focused view the "Boost" and "More!" buttons work as they should. All other functions (reply, quote, etc.) work as normal regardless of view. Anyone else encountering this? #bug#glitch#calckey#meta
Firefox is crashing my Linux all the time and I have no idea how to diagnose it 😔 maybe I'll finally give Wayland another go and see if the keyboard stack is finally able to fulfill my needs....
My music (feinstruktur) is a mixture of ambient, experimental, glitch, noise and academic modern music, not really fixed to any genre or box, mostly electronic in the moment.
