How will people be able to tell the difference between the Fedi-verse and Meta if Meta decides to decentralized a sizable part of their server load ?
For many people the appeal of The Fedi-verse is the fact its free from Big Techs influence. How much water will make up the brew before its just water?

listening to songs is sometimes quite panful because I believe that whole societies grow from poetic vision of its members although most people deny their roll in the process by giving it to religious and political "authorities" .
A song shows a whole world come to life sustained by words .written and unwritten sustained by memory and your attention informed by cultural insight .It feels like a society in miniature bloom and die in the time you listen to it.

Beauty comes ,at least as I see it, arises from the sense that what you are perceiving is a sample of a much bigger pattern held in a small space of awareness . That feeling that here there is something more than I can hold on to . A sot of projected in the future of a longing for
the image you are seeing in right now.

@MariaTheMartian In this particular mode you are the entropic force you are spreading out the image into another perceptive space and thus distorting it to make it fit a different version of what it is at the moment of perception . Interpretation then becomes waste because many pieces will be left out and memory-holed into oblivion.

Oblivion (2013) Perfectly explains how Ai and technology in general swallows and erases whole classes in society by alienating them from the very culture that sustains them. The work you do isn't simply a task but a perspective lens into reality .Once you loose your place in society , society looses a whole window into itself.
This will accelerate once Ai becomes more nuanced in its capability .
I don't believe people who say it will not achieve sentience . Sentience is not a necessary criteria for the effectiveness of a hammer. You just have to see a lot of nails and keep hammering eventually everything becomes flattened into a single smooth mirror reflecting the pounding hammer . We normally call this process standardization.

@MariaTheMartian As tech use grows it also becomes a language of communication between humans about humans.Therapist act like societal admins maintaining healthy iteration between people and themselves.I'm trying to see how people see themselves in relation to tech the fedi-verse provides if at all.
It hit me that Mastodon and Calckey were the first platform I felt responsible for despite having few followers and zero financial stakes in there growth .It feels like a community and this worries me a bit .I don't get attached to people or tech.

@MariaTheMartian I don't mind sharing the space with more people if it is good.I just don't like the idea of not having parameters to check to understand how doing something affects me and the people I'm interacting with. I would like to have some perspective on what people think they are doing when they are online on different platforms with different affordances.

Most of our ideas about tech have been shaped by tech corps in the guise of avatars of progresses .WIth the growth of Ai we risk being trapped in a religious closed systems a la Mrs Davis.

I study a lot of archaeoastronomy and most religious language and gestures even the idea of spirit came from what I can tell were social engineering concepts based on astro-clocks and agricultural cycles .Eventually people could not tell the difference between reality and the imprints created by hierarchical bureaucracies in the name of all- encompassing god systems.

To this day people worship dead egyptian pharaohs ghosts . The system is older than egypt but most of what we know as religion comes from them . I don't want life to be ruled by idiots wielding the power of techno empires if I can help it.

The fedi-verse was created to create a sense of freedom but I think it just demonstrates our need for tech . We didn't go out and start farms .We created new communities in the shape of Atlantis when Atlantis sank below our contempt by the moral laws we had chosen to enforce.

Sleep was a bit unsettled last night and the finale was a semi-nightmare

where I was trying to call a phone number but somehow I kept dialing the wrong numbers and then the number I was reading would change to another number and I would try to dial that and on and on

think that was tapping into a couple of anxieties at least in terms of trying to figure some things out and trying to get better connected to the world

and also figure out the health issue that makes me so damn tired

I stopped having nightmares once I developed the ability to dream edit . It has ruined my life. I can't sleep very well any more.
Def:Dream edit - the ability to change scenery and content of a dream. Basically you train yourself to dream certain themes .
