Due to a possible bug with #Vivaldi, I'm having to toot using #Chrome. I feel dirty :( In other news, is anyone else having problems with #Mastodon links NOT opening in a new tab?
I will say though, I don't think it's a problem with #fosstodon opening external links.
I have an account there, which I don't use very much, but i tested opening a few links from the home stream, both in Chromium and Tuba and they worked fine for me.
I am looking for a linux run #handheld PC around 150-500$/€ with a german keyboard, what suggestions does #Fosstodon have for me? Looking for it to be either x86_64 or aarch64.
This is not for gaming, so the CPU doesn't need to be too good. 8GB RAM is the minimum though.
I would try the "Sipeed Lichee Console 4A" but my distro has no riscv support yet and aliexpress isn't my goto-choice for buying things online.
Thank you @fosstodon for making my favorite space on the web--I find it to be an actually worthwhile social media space filled with many similar minded, helpful, and warm people.

My primary Mastodon instance is iosdev.space, and I try to keep my posts aligned with that community.
However, I still occasionally put random thoughts not about iOS development on Twitter / X.
I feel like I could use this instance a little better.
I do like that #Fosstodon seems to be running a slightly different version of the web UI, but I dont know enough about the underpinnings to dive deeper.
I completely respect the #fosstodon admins' choice, but personally, I just blocked the Threads . net domain from interacting with my account.
If anything I have not missed anything coming from zuck-owned platforms for over a decade now, and I'm 100% confident I won't miss anything in the future. But if by some twist later on they can still reach / scrape my stuff in the future, then I'll probably have to resort to start hosting my own.
The first #Fosstodon community Meetup is in the books. Thanks so much to everybody that made it, and thank you to @isaacs for a great talk. Can't wait to do it again!

This maybe an easy one for others to answer... Does each instance have its own character limit? Fosstodon has 500 but some posts from other instances are huge and I have to scroll through the text on my phone to get to the end. #Fosstodon friends, how feasible would it be to have firewall rules that block all connections except those from specific ISPs? How can I find a reliable source of IP ranges to allowlist?
I have a NAS that I'd like to allow family and friends to access over the internet but also I'd like to "reduce the attack surface" by not allowing connections from places I would never go to, for example, why allow connections from Antarctica if I'll never go there..
