Company I'm doing some work for had some of my work called out by the CEO in a company meeting (involving public safety warnings and wildfire tracking). "...saved that family's life...." (although they credited the entire giant corporation and its teams, not me, LOL). Will they renew my contract next week? Who knows, LOL. #work#contracting
Freelancing/self employment tip (for newbies): W2 wage is not the same as 1099 pay, due to self employment tax/Medicare/SS. $1/hour W2 is not $1 if paid on a 1099 (same rate on a 1099 would be a pay cut). Learned this long ago. #freelancing#contracting#selfemployment

Hmmm - the joys of contracting. After engaging with a client on a 6 month contract I find myself looking for another contract after just 6 weeks.
I was providing cover after a couple of their devs left them but it appears that they've now hired replacement and one of them is immediately available - so I drew the short straw and am the first to be released.
Thinking more about my situation with my contract being cut short I'm only really going to be a week out of pocket this month.
I'm handing over to the new guy next week, then I'm at a loose end for a week before heading off to Italy for 10 days - and can't bill if I'm not working.
So basically I have three weeks or so to secure another contract before I feel any great impact.
Fun times but that's the way of things in the world of #contracting
