I created a little blog entry to link your Amiga to the internet via a Serial link and RPi. Not quick but functional. Just a little something worth sharing.
My second Amiga 1200. What an absolute beauty! This is an Escom version (made in France), released after Commodore's bankruptcy in 1994. I'm very happy to add this gem to the collection 😍
I decided to work on something a bit lighter (literally) and fun today and refurbished a 1975 scientific calculator made by #Commodore. It still works (except for the rechargeable battery which thankfully was removed by the previous owner before it could do any harm)! #RetroCalculatoring#InTheLabDoingStuff
Currently running it from my bench power supply because the original power supply is an unregulated very crudely made thing from, well, 1975. I don’t trust it. I wonder if I can just run it from a USB adapter? Original PSU is labeled as 6V 200mA unregulated (outputs around 9V without a load) so chances are it’s going to run fine on a 5V supply. Did anybody try? 🤔 #Commodore#RetroCalculatoring#InTheLabDoingStuff
Did I mention that I love the graphics quality of Simon the Sorcerer on the Amiga? And the four wizards totally show that Monkey Island was a great inspiration to this game.
After getting the #Commodore#C64 and #C128 running again, the next device to repair is the #C1571.
It had #corrosion and #rust on the main board and the power supply is beyond repairworthiness. I'd replace the latter with a #meanwell RD-35 with 5 and 12 volt output.
One #diode was rusty, a few traces needed #cleaning and five #resistor looked bad. Hope the black hybrid chip is still okay.
Sadly, the lower read head seems to be broken, my work might've been in vain. #floppydrive#retrocomputer
Some more progress on the #Commodore#VC1541 today.
The #alignment from the diagnostics looks okay so far.
But when trying the performance test, it gets stuck at the "formatting" stage. The red LED lights, but the spindle motor doesn't start.
When trying the "fast format", the spindle motor starts, but the red LED doesn't light up.
Both programs, and any other from the diagnostic, seem to freeze until I switch the drive off, resulting in a "device not present" error or similar. #retrocomputing
When I was a youngster in the late 1980s, I formed an Amiga game dev team with 2 friends.
Before making games, we started by trying to sell game music that used minimal RAM, made with our music editor SIDmon.
To promote our game music, this energetic music module was composed by our musician Ramon Braumuller. The file, including tiny sampled sounds, is only 22 kilobytes.
Our Amiga game Hoi was released worldwide on 3.5 inch diskettes in 1992.
This rhythmic tune was composed by our musician Ramon Braumuller, reflecting Hoi level 2's construction site environment. The track was made using our own music editor Digital Mugician.

This jolly tune was made by our composer Ramon Braumuller for level 3, where Hoi flies around with a jetpack. Our own music editor Digital Mugician was used.
The track was originally composed for our uncompleted 1988 game Ragnov.

In early 1993, Commodore hadn't released hardware specs for the new AGA Amiga computers. So me and my game dev partners decided to create a demo trilogy, using self-discovered AGA chipset features.
The second demo was called 'Mindwarp', and I still love to listen to our music composer Ramon Braumuller's 4-channel soundtrack.

Here's a 4-channel Techno track by our music composer Ramon Braumuller for the "Hoi sAGA part III"
