"Yet the crackdown had an unintended consequence, one little examined today: it has increased the suffering of patients who experience chronic pain, as medications that were once heavily promoted have since been restricted." —Ann Neumann for The Baffler
Been in pain all day. The kind of pain where my whole body feels SUPER tight and my head throbs any time I move around to the point where the outsides of my vision blackens a little.
So that's been fun.
Maxed out my med intake for the day and barely put a dent in it. So now I have slathered my neck, shoulders and back in Oplopanax horridus cream. Sitting here watching some TV with my eyes mostly closed and an ice pack on my head.
@elfkin It's easing up a bit, I can still feel it at the edges.
Thinking to try and attend a yoga class (on zoom) tonight before bed to help stretch out aching muscles so I don't have to deal with all this pain tomorrow.
So my pain level has hit 9, and I stayed there for the past two hours. and my sweet child is pissed and complaining that I am "acting like a whining little bitch"...
For six months I have been waiting for and dreading the dr appt I’m about to go into. I’ve lost sleep this week, dreading it. The dr seems to have no curiosity about why I live w debilitating symptoms, including chronic pain. I had an RA/PsA diagnosis, but that is in question. He’s full of anti fat bias and eye rolling when I discuss symptoms and ask for help. His nurse was just an absolute asshole to me. I want to cry and go home. #NEISvoid#ChronicPain#AnitFatBias
@WillardHerman That's good, right? Does that mean there is a treatment that you can hope will improve things? [edited from my bizarrely ungrammatical original version]
-last Thurs 9:30am
-17yo boy killed at work down the road from me
-driving payloader boss said too slow
-replaced with guy told WORK FASTER then ran over boy
Positive news for the day: The doctor filled out forms for me to get an accessible parking permit! Fingers crossed that it gets approved. This would be so majorly helpful for me, particularly on high pain days! I don't drive, but sometimes, I get rides places and all the walking can make my pain worse. #ChronicPain#Fibromyalgia
I woke this morning at 4am with a massive #migraine already in progress. Easily an 8 on the (relatively useless) pain scale. If this one had an aura, I slept through it. Ugh.
Got up and took some Tylenol. The pain has moved from acute severe to chronic annoying. Yes, Tylenol. Can't take NSAIDs due to #CKD. No Rx meds for the migraines as they don't occur often enough to meet the criteria. 🤷♀️
My chronic illnesses are having one of those, we're too tired to do anything days. Or more like week. 😂
I just wish it didn't have to mean that my mind takes it upon itself to make me feel bad about not doing enough. 🤔
@NickEast@chronicillness@writers@writingcommunity@writing With Chronic illness, you must remember one very important thang. Self Care is work too, because it requires intentionality, such as not beating yourself up, and intentionally resting, hydrating, and keeping stress low, so you can bounce ack for a better day soon
