A little "behind the scenes" of yesterdays session. You can clearly see the purplish nebula-esque colors of the beautiful aurora, with my timelapse camera in the front - (which I actually wanted to use for a bit of vlogging and landscape photography ^^).
The aurora surely surprised us! (luckily my gf also decided to join me yesterday and what a good decision it was :D)
@tagesschau@DLR@dlr_next@stim3on 2 hours later, May 11 00:39-00:54, round 2. The #aurora coveres the entire sky over Bavaria, Germany. It's even visible to the naked eye when looking south! This is insanity!! 🖖😳
First image even looks like the camera Sensor of my phone got hit with radiation particles. #polarlights#northernlights#Bavaria#Germany
Hey friends! We just came back from a great hike near #garmischpartenkirchen. We wanted to do this mountain recently but the snow in the upper part was too risky for us.
Today we went there again. Beautiful ascent, nice views. Some spray rain and a slippery, dirty descent. But at the end we even had some sun!
What all has water washed away?
Only the water knows —
Even in crises felt every day
the water simply flows:
While tyrants may rise
then crumble and fall
the water is wise
and washes tears away from us all
So this was quite the late afternoon/evening, so glad I repeated this tour... Took a slightly different route than last year, going up some super craggy canyon for a while (pushing/carrying the bike), but well worth it, especially once up and dipping in the 3rd lake (legs only) en route, snow patches still all around, but air temp in the mid-20s... Another reason this is one of my faves: the last 11km are just rolling downhill (~470 hm).
Some impressions attached (the last pic is of the Lech Falls near Füssen, tiny detour on the way back...)
As promised, some short (1:23min) phone video impressions from Sunday's varied hike in the beautiful Ester Mountains[1] (mainly filmed during descent only, since the steep way up was mostly without any grand views)
To become climate neutral until 2040 the state of Bavaria needs to build 104 wind turbines every year. With the first quarter of 2024 coming to an end we should be at 26 turbines. To keep track of the actual progress, Greenpeace has installed a counter in the Munich city center. Below is a picture I took today of the counter
Hey friends! I finally wrote about my second attempt to get a #photo of the frozen #waterfall
Unfortunately, it wasn't THAT frozen anymore - but ... wasn't it even better?! I wrote down the story in my blog and this time I also uploaded the photo to FineArtsAmerica if you think about having a print of it.
I'm back to posting some #hiking#photos . For those having read the blog already, it isn't new. I took this photo right after leaving the #summit behind me and starting the descend.
I was sooo happy that I finally had done this summit. And I plan to go there again this year - but this is going to wait a while as there is still a lot of snow up there.
There are countless photos of mad King Ludwig’s Schloss Neuschwanstein—most in the nature of travel & tourism posters—but few that give a sense of how carefully and brilliantly it was sited in the magnificent surrounding landscape.
I'm sharing one of the photos from this #hiking trip to the #mountains last year (I wrote about it already). A wonderful day, starting early, going lonely and finally reaching that summit that I wanted to hike since long.
It's hard to express such a view or day in just one post.
