I probably just saw the worst online #bassguitar lesson I've ever seen and it made me unreasonably angry. I get that people want to cash in on the (well deserved) SBL hype, but there is so much grifting out there. What's your take on that? #bass

Hello #basstodon community. Are small amps (>30 watts) useless ? Are headphone-oriented devices (Vox Amplug or heads/preamp like Warwick Gnome, Ashdown Ant, Orange Bass Butler, Two Notes Revolt Bass, Darkglass Ultra...) better suited for bass players who don't need an amp at home ? This is becoming more and more of a pet peeve for me. A lot of the #music#teaching industry makes simple things appear to be utter complicated magic full of "secrets". Especially in the #guitar and #bass world this has become quite a trend on Youtube. Am I overreacting? 🤔 #bassguitar
A couple of people have asked, since my recent instance change, about what I'm playing - musically speaking. Recently, I've been just messing around for a couple of hours, no more than 3-4 takes, and no previous idea of what I was going to do. Usually on a Sunday morning. As you can imagine it can vary in success widely but I'm also trying to learn how to record myself, get better at playing, everything really ... Here is a recent one.

Ich habe von Anfang an gesagt, auf die Musik kommt es gar nicht so an, das Motto ist entscheidend. Wir wollen #Berlin 2023 nicht durch eine Autobahn teilen lassen; das kann man gar nicht oft genug betonen.
Aber holy Shit, wie ENTTÄUSCHEND war denn das Musikangebot entlang des Markgrafendamms?!
Simpelster Tekkno, als wäre es 1996. Wenn im Motto #BASS steht, dann erwarte ich auch BASS! 140, 160 Halftime, I don't care. Nicht mal Drum'n Bass war da. Und Berlin hätte eigentlich Personal: Current Value, Machinecode (DnB), Cassius Select (modernes (!) Club Zeug) und so viel mehr. Eigentlich.
Aber wenn das – bei dieser markanten Titelgebung (ich erinnere nochmal: "A100 wegBASSen") – wenn das jetzt repräsentativ für Berlins Bass-Szene sein sollte (und nochmal: der Titel suggeriert genau das), dann Gute Nacht.
Das war's dann mit Berlin als weltweites Aushängeschild für innovative weirde Club-Culture. Die Überland-Großraumdisko (beliebt auch unter dem Begriff "Dorfbumms") hat übernommen. Gehen Sie weiter, hier gibt es nichts zu sehen und schon gar nichts zu hören. Beispielsweise keine einzige 808-Kick den ganzen Markgrafendamm entlang. Bei einer "wegBASSEN"-Veranstaltung! Kann man sich gar nicht ausdenken, so bescheuert ist das.
Und ich bin nicht allein mit diesen Gedanken. Mir kam eine Gruppe entgegen, da sagte einer zu den anderen: "Pass uff, gleich kommt Scooter!". Jenau dis. So schade. Und am Rand ist ein Poster angebracht. "Spider Murphy Gang unplugged". Komplett aus der Zeit gefallen. Fast so wie die Musik hier. Passt alles zusammen.
Vielleicht war ich auf der falschen Route? Vielleicht zum falschen Zeitpunkt unterwegs? Aber egal. Zu keinem Zeitpunkt, an keiner Stelle hätte so ein grundlegendes Motto-Versagen stattfinden dürfen. Und ganz nebenbei: Die Soundsysteme (mit einer Ausnahme), so wie sie da standen, hätten richtigen Bass gar nicht leisten können.

What do you prefer for taking online #music lessons and why? I'm offering Discord and Skype because it's very wide spread among people that are not that tech savvy. #bass#bassguitar
I do music stuff on and off. I sometimes do stage tech stuff for the glitz, the glamour, the backache and tinnitus. I like retro computing, gigs, beer, comedy. Travel and languages are an aspiration rather than a reality. I occasionally run. Been in IT infrastructure for over 20 years. Almost getting good at it now.
