@rysiek drew my attention to an inflamatory tone in some of my last posts in yesterday's m.s crypto-spam hellthread. My apologies to all for my failure to stay calm and friendly, and for any offence it may have caused.
I appreciate the passion and creativity all of you brought to the discussion, even where I disagreed with the particulars of your posts.
A very interesting website is FA Failed Architecture. See, for example, the article "Mortal Cities and Forgotten Monuments" by
Arna Mackic.
"Currently these cities, once repositories of memories, have become dishonest and opaque as politicians try to keep the different ethnic groups divided via architecture. As the legibility of the history and the identities have disappeared, communication between inhabitants and the city has ceased to exist. History, symbols and memories are currently being erased in these cities by adding unfitting symbols or by removing meaningful symbols in public spaces. This has resulted in an abundance of fragmented, imaginary, self-proclaimed and self-imposed memories".
The Coca Cola bottling plant, Central Avenue, Los Angeles, 1993. Built in the 1930’s, it’s streamline moderne design resembles a ship. #losangeles#architecture#BlackAndWhite
Next an analog photo from Amsterdam took with my Zorki 4 camera (an old Soviet rangefinder) from 1966. 📷 Let's imagine that this photo doesn't have these few modern cars, then you could say that this photo looks like it was taken a few decades ago. Canals in Amsterdam are the most iconic places of this city, many calls this city the Venice of the north and I can confirm it's true! 🥰
Gear:

Wrocław is a city on the Oder River in western Poland. It’s known for its Market Square, lined with elegant townhouses and featuring a modern fountain. Also on the square is the Gothic Old Town Hall, with its large astronomical clock. Nearby is the Panorama of Racławice, a painting depicting the 1794 battle for independence. The Centennial Hall auditorium, with its giant dome and tall spire, lies across the river. https://pixels.com/featured/wroclaw-city-scenes-74-john-hughes.html #BuyIntoArt#AYearForArt#Wroclaw#Poland#architecture
This is Chicagohenge, a twice-yearly event where the sun aligns with the axis created by our grid system of streets at the spring/autumn equinoxes. Instagram tip for tourists: plan to gather around 6:00p to get a good shot.
Love the art nouveau-inspired lines and symmetry of this tenement on Helenvale Street in the Parkhead area of Glasgow, especially those chimneys. It was designed by John Hamilton and built in the early 1900s.
His former home and office is now a #museum dedicated to his legacy. High up inside the Sir John Soane’s Museum, a room has stood unseen for the last 200 years
where Soane’s draftsmen and apprentices worked with #Soane on the designs that shaped the neo-classical architectural character of Regency era London.
Now, after a year of restoration works, visitors can see the room where Soane created the blueprints that would change the course of #architecture in London.
One of many ancient architectural wonders I visited during a trip to Paris is Saint Chapelle. The detail is astounding, at least to me, since we don't have nearly as much of this in Ontario. Here's one of the stained glass windows.
When night falls the long rectangular lights above the outdoor courtyard in Peachtree Center next to the Hub turn on and if you look up the skylines has a futuristic science fiction vibe. Photo taken in early evening in Downtown Atlanta.
