OZZY & SHARON OSBOURNE Recall Partying With Art Legend ANDY WARHOL - "Ozzy Dumped Me With Old Wiggy, And He's Off With The Limo Driver Looking For Coke"; Video
@DemocracySpot For a minute I thought this was #DoctorWho done in #AndyWarhol style - until I saw the top of the box and noticed what it really was! 😳 ... 😂
To understand why Andreessen's "Techno-Optimist" piece is so wretched, go to the "Enemies" list and gape at the things he and his bros want to get rid of.
They include: “Sustainable Development Goals”, “social responsibility”, “trust and safety”, and (among others) “tech ethics”.
@dangillmor. And/or look at the prominent place of #fascist#Marinetti in the piece. And/or daring to include #CarrieFisher as someone who would give any of these people the time of day. And/or the invocation of #AndyWarhol.
So glad that I got to see the "Keith Haring: Art is for Everybody" exhibit at #TheBroadMuseum last week that ended today.
Here's a quote from Gil Vazquez, who heads The Keith Haring Foundation:
"A lot of the things that Keith spoke up for — LGBT issues, or spoke up against — racial disparities, police brutality: These are things that are persistent. You know, his art still really resonates."
I was looking through a big book of Andy Warhol Polaroids in the park, but had to cut it short, because Warhol with a Polaroid in the ‘70s involves a fair number of ambush dick pics.
Andy Warhol was paid $50 for every album cover he designed for Columbia Records. That's $633 in 2023 dollars. If you were an artist in the Village who could sell two album covers a week, that's not a bad living for an artist. The equivalent of $65k/year.
The Q. of appropriation in the #artworld is always vexed: is it justifiable use of publicly visible resources, or theft of someone else's work & creativity?
This is a long running debate, but in its latest iteration around Lynn Goldsmith's win against the #AndyWarhol foundation, the aspect of the Q. around the (re)use of #photography has come into clear focus.
What you think about this case will depend on how you see 'ownership' in #art!
scene report from the 2nd @WFMU marathon, august 1968, from the syndicated pop scene column: "at three in the morning a member of the #VelvetUnderground, #AndyWarhol's rock group, called from north carolina to offer his aid.” #LouReed & #Nico both appeared separately on @WFMU later that fall (by phone) on the kokaine karma show.
Andy Warhol holding a mouse next to an Amiga 1000 with a tilted monitor, around its public introduction in July 1985. Such a magical time of the digital revolution. ❤️
