Hey friends, Saturdays wasn't only about waterfalls. I was close to this spot and thought I'd give it a visit.
And oh well, I'm pretty happy that I went there. To be honest, it was in the middle of the day and I didn't expect that I could take a good photo. But I accepted the challenge and well this is it. The location is indeed beautiful & I was lucky to have this weather.
Loved the haze down in the valley with this amazing blue sky and the pristine cold snow.
A day well spend. #snowshoes would not have been strictly necessary, but there was enough snow to be able to use them. #hiking#alps
Last week I wrote a post on my blog about a myth from Northern #Alps, in #Italy.
It is about the Crodères, beings who inhabit the mountains who have a stone heart, so they can't feel any emotions. It is the story of their queen, Tanna, who instead loved to help humans.
That is a #myth like no other I know because of its structure, with no climax or twists, and tells about how harsh life is, and the process of our inner growth. It's very interesting, it has multiple interpretations.
Small Alpine lake at #Chamonix La Flégère. Saw this while hiking on what certainly felt like the hottest day of the year (95°F/35°C). Bathing was prohibited, but I was tempted…

Today I got up earlier and rode my bike a few kilometers (albeit a little too late) to photograph the sunrise over a certain group of mountains, which unfortunately was a little too cloudy for that. Nevertheless, I was able to take a few nice pictures | 2024-01-05
Over the past couple of years since moving in the close vicinity of the Alps I've been rediscovering my old love for landscape photography (or my own [low-budget] interpretation of it). As a kid I had my own DIY B&W photolab and it was my main hobby for quite a few years before encountering computers. Like everything, photography is a art/craft to learn, to exercise and to master, and so regularly spending more time again out here, exploring, learning, reading/sensing the elements, feeling/understanding your own limits & insignificance has also been a positive influence on body & soul and even had an impact on my software practice. Without a question, of my 23+ years in London, the most productive 10 years were when working almost daily outside on a bench (or under a shelter in wind & weather) in Highgate Wood. To this day, being surrounded by nature inspires & improves the quality of my focus & work more than any swanky office environment ever could (or did) and I hope 2024 will be the one I manage to do more of that...
Thank you for all the love, feedback & encouragement received on my pictures so far! Here're my 10 "most popular" pictures of the last year once more:
In family tradition, we went to celebrate the last light of the year outside in nature, took our Kelly Kettle and some wood to make coffee and roast some marshmellows during sunset by the lake side, but ended up arriving at the same time a storm & snow/rain came rolling in (earlier than expected) and so instead we just did a mini hike around the lake with headlamps and in the rain... Pure romanticism!
Good bye 2023! May the next year (and we ourselves!) bring more positivity & peace to the world! See you on the other side! ✌️
Hey friends! I finally wanted to continue posting my "Pristine Winter" collection.
I took this shot after decending from a mountain into low hanging clouds / fog and followed the dirt road through the fields. It's hard to describe - feeling like seeing nothing but the path ahead. Which was all I really needed in that moment. No distractions.
This is how you buy some of the best Alpine cheese: there is a small fortune in cheese (and some butter and yoghurt) in this fridge with payment based on just trusting your customers to leave the money in a post box 🤩🧀
