I've got a lot of writing to do this week! I photographed and identified six wildflowers that will be added to add to my Alaska Wildflower Guide. Cat and I saw some interesting stuff along the lower Granite Tors trail yesterday. Hopefully, I'll have some more photos later today or tomorrow!
There were so many flowers yesterday despite it being so early in greening up at Table Top Mountain in the White Mountain National Recreation Area, Alaska.
#DeathCamas - all parts of plant are #toxic & shouldn't be handled. Only bee that can tolerate its toxins is the specialist mining bee. Toxic to animals, especially sheep. Humans have been poisoned after ingesting bulbs; kids have been poisoned after ingesting flowers & flower buds.
A bluet-strewn grassy hillside meets a pond sparkling in sunshine. Springtime at Herron Pond, White Memorial Foundation, Morris, Connecticut. May 17, 2024, 12:05 PM.
This was one of the 1st #wildflowers I IDed. Was completely unknown to me & that brilliant white drew me in. After many to attempts photograph, I realized that shadows or overcast skies made it easier to catch the delicate texture in the petal.
Taken photos of it in the field but this is a plant I put in last yr (no blooms last yr). This is one of this year's blooms 👍.

#CyngorCaerffili#CaerphillyCouncil sent this as part of their usually 'Newsline' update. Sounds great doesn't it? Except the first they thing did this morning was send a lawnmower man down to completely obliterate all the #WildFlowers growing in the wild area at the bottom of our bank. It's literally cut so low I can see bare earth. 🤦♂️ #NatureIsntNeat#NoMowMay
