Everyone always tells me to use "Boxes" instead of Virtualbox.
Well, Boxes crashes the moment I point it to the ISO. And it does so without leaving any log of what issue it encountered too, so I cannot even diagnose what the problem is.
@szymonzielonka I am curious about how many people experience this. How is using Endeavor OS (Arch based). But if Boxes can crash from Debian to SUSE Tumbleweed, it doesn't sound very staple to me. Worse that doesn't offer any clues and logs either.
One of the first #racing game I played as a kid was #STUNTS from Brøderbund. Back in 1992/1993, this #MSDOS game was HUGE on the schoolyard! Especially, because you could make your own tracks and trade them with your friends. It was basically Trackmania in EGA graphics. 😜
@linuxiac My main lament after installing #Debian Bookworm was #virtualbox wasn't currently supported for this version in DEB repos. Thanks for the workaround until #Oracle VB compatible.
Not going to lie, I wouldn't be unhappy to see an #opensource arms race of sorts in the commercial #Linux space. So far, #SUSE is the only one that has obviously done anything actionable, to my knowledge, around the rhetoric. If #Oracle wants to step up and fix CDDL/GPL compatibility or opensource the PUEL parts of #VirtualBox, now would be a great time to step up to the plate and take a swing.
How to install #Windows 11 in a #VirtualBox with #Ubuntu#Linux as host - Installation guide including bi-directional copy-paste, shared folders and USB support :windows: :ubuntu:
Rather than smash my way through configuring a #kbin federated instance I am doing the slower, smarter thing and re-creating my VPS host OS & configuration in a #Virtualbox VM for testing.
Ideally, I'll eventually spin up a #calckey and #kbin instance for personal use... might open them up to limited registration to scale them up as time and money permit. What I don't want is to contribute to the bot / spam that some instances are suffering through!
Tips and tricks are welcome! I'm moderately technical, but this isn't exactly my area of expertise.
Hate on #Oracle#VirtualBox all you want, but when it comes to installing old school versions of Windows server, it really can't be beat. In VMWare, if I want to install Windows Server 2003, I'd either need sighted assistance or a lot of help from OCR, because not only is the Windows audio service disabled, but VMWare doesn't include the drivers needed for audio to work anyway, even if you enabled the service. You'd need to install not only VMWare Tools, but you'd have to find the audio driver that VMWare uses as well. With VirtualBox, however, Shift + F10, sc config AudioSrv start= auto, net start AudioSrv, and boom! Audio works! Now you can enable Narrator and breeze through the installation. The Lord said: 'Let there be sound,' and there was sound! #accessibility#WindowsServer#RetroTech
